The folks who run the Wild West Retreat were wonderful. They booked us in a small house in a separate property when their main one was full, and were incredibly patient with our late arrival. The place we stayed in was on the edge of town, incredibly clean and adorable.

Booked this place for 2 nights and although had a slight problem finding it, once there we found it charming. Jennifer welcomed us warmly and showed us where we could get the produce for breakfast. There was so much equipment it is really designed for self catering families and not couples, however, it is so charming. Met Shannon at their... More

We had high hopes for our stay in Escalante. The pictures in booking.com showed a wonderful cottage. The owners -Jenifer and Shannon- have two cottages : The Barn (the pics we've seen) and the Wild West Retreat. We thought having booked The Barn, but ended up in the WW Retreat. Jenifer admitted that the pics in booking.com are confusing. So... More

We stayed here because we were looking for a place that we could have several bedrooms but still stay "together" - we were traveling with my family and mother-in-law, and usually need to rent separate rooms. The Pioneer House fit the bill for this stay. We had a great time, and were able to spend lots of time hanging out... More

Wild West Retreat offers 2 different guest houses: the Pioneer House and the Barn. The houses are located in a very quiet street in the very quiet town of Escalante. We stayed at the Pioneer. This is a very lovely house with 5 sleeping rooms, a living, a kitchen, a washing room with washer and dryer. It only has one... More

We had scheduled the cowboy dinner for our group. Torrential rain meant eating outdoors wasn't an option. Jennifer and Shannon were very accommodating in moving the dinner indoors at Cowboy Blues with the same menu and prices. Shannon's table side banter was thoroughly entertaining, and the meal was fantastic. Thanks for a great experience!Highly recommended!

We were enthusiastic about our comfortable stay in the Pioneer House. It is roomy, well equipped (even a front porch swing), and has a lot of atmosphere. Jenifer and Shannon are gifted hosts who made sure we had all we needed (many towels) or wanted (many eggs), even as they were busy with all the other people they keep happy... More
