I recently stayed at the Hyatt in Salt Lake City and was very impressed with the staff, location, and property itself. I would recommend this hotel if you're traveling to Utah for work or pleasure as it's close to everything.
Hotel is clean, ample space for congregating in a group. Shuttle service is available for guests to travel within a 5 mile radious. Room was nicely decorated, spacious, comfortable bed and clean. Highly recommend!
Really nice! We got upgraded to a corner suite, which was excellent. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast is really excellent. If you're here to ski, you can get a package that includes the IKON pass in the price of your room -- good at Alta, Snowbird, Solitude, Brighton, and Deer Valley. There's a Powder House ski shop right across the parking lot, which is pretty convenient if you need rentals. As for getting to the mountains, here's the deal: the hotel is right at the bottom of Big Cottonwood Canyon (Brighton and Solitude). You can take a the 972 UTA bus up that road from right nearby, but if you can, I'd recommend going back to the beginning of the bus line at Mill Valley, to ensure that you get a seat. The 994 bus up Little Cottonwood Canyon to Alta and Snowbird is a little harder to get to without a car -- the hotel said they would run a shuttle to it, but they were pretty vague about it and we ended up getting a car. As with the other bus, it's best to get on at the first stop (Historic Sandy Station), in order to get a seat. If it's a powder day and the canyon roads are closed for avalanche clearance in the morning, the bus will get priority to enter as soon as the gate opens, before the cars. That said, we also drove up to Brighton twice on weekdays, and the traffic wasn't bad at all.…
The hotel is in a good location near the mountains and major highways. If you want a simple room in a decent location, this might be a good choice. But the rates are quite high, considering the lack of creature comforts. It seems like Hyatt hired an interior decorator to remove all charm from the place. There are tons of hard surfaces, minimal decor, and mediocre lighting. The staff does not anticipate guests' needs. We were a family of four, and the suite was set up for three. When asked, the staff seemed surprised by requests of towels, blankets, and silverware. I do not expect a five star hotel when I book a Hyatt Place, but this is by far the most charmless Hyatt Place I have ever stayed in. And yet prices still reflect the high end of the spectrum for the area.
This is the best hotel to stay in the Salt Lake City Utah area. Staff is great. Service is great I will. Hot breakfast available every morning that tastes home made. Easy to find and accessible. Great views.
Overall the hotel was great and if you’re looking to go into the mountains it’s really close which is great. My only complaint was that there was someone’s leftover take out that was left in the fridge which was a little gross. Kind of made us question if any cleaning before we got the room really happened or not since that should’ve been taken care of. Otherwise it was great, they had good options for breakfast as well so that was nice.
Great hotel-service fabulous too. Amazing warm breakfast in the morning-better than expected. Great size room with a large couch that turns into a bed if needed. Gym and pool on first level. Very friendly helpful staff. 20 min to Alta and 25 min to Brighton Mountain when weather conditions are good. Beware that roads can close to the mountains if weather is bad. Happens often to Alta and Snowbird. Not as often to Solitude and Brighton.
Really great hotel. Staff was great. Breakfast was really top notch for this type of hotel. Nice exercise room and outdoor hot tub. There is a shuttle which you can hire to Alta or Snowbird Thursday to Sunday for $10 each way but if you want to go to Solitude or Brighton you are out of luck and if you are skiing on Monday-Wed there is no way to get anywhere without a car. It may be possible to walk to the park and ride through the parking lot then crossing the street. Unfortunately, there are now only 2 buses per hour and they are totally full. Apparently service has been cut back by 2/3 which is crazy considering how many cars are trying to get up the Canyon and park. UTA and Utah has totally dropped the ball and is nowhere as good as public transport to Aspen from surrounding communities. We had to hitch hike back from Solitude after 2 very late packed buses going down who could take no more passengers. When we hitch hiked back we saw two young New Zealanders who had left the bus station at solitude and rather than hitch hiking were walking down the big cottonwood canyon road. My guess it is a 7 mile walk and it was soon going to be dark. The hotels and the mountains need to figure this out before someone freezes to death or get killed on the road trying to get back to the park and ride after skiing.…
I stayed here for 4 nights for a business trip. The bed and pillows were comfortable and I was grateful that the white noise machine was provided. It helped. The HVAC actually worked well. Unfortunately, the alarm was not turned off from a prior person's stay and it went off startling the heck out of me...so check your alarm when you get to your room. Housekeeping was supposed to give a light cleaning on day 2 and 4. I only got one on day 4. Someone came in and moved my "skip this" sign outside two days because I didn't do that. Breakfast buffet is quite good. I wish they had a cooler with individual yogurt cups rather than one large bowl full of just vanilla (is it fat free? Greek? No one knows...) and loved the blueberry compote and fresh cut fruit as well as fresh whole fruit (apples and bananas). Lots of cereal options and hot oatmeal along with fresh scrambled eggs, potatoes, meat, and something special (French toast, pancakes, etc). The shower was very nice and I did like the shampoo/conditioner/body wash that was provided. I loved the layout of the bathroom as it was easy to put my stuff out. Internet was ok...slower than I'm used to but I'm spoiled. I liked the closet space for hanging up my shirts. The chair and desk were perfect. I wish I could tell you about the food at The Place. I went down around 815 to get dessert and it was closed due to lack of staff. That's normal for a lot of the service industry. But the menu looked great. I wish they had more just veg stuff since I ate poorly at work (pizza....pizza....pizza) and would have loved some Brussels sprouts with a whiskey neat. I would stay here again. I hesitated putting the complaints since they're minor. The important stuff (room was clean and comfortable and I felt safe) are all checked. It's situated near a lot of great places (Spitz!!! and the 8th Settler). And the hotel is easy to access off of 215.…
A really good hotel with plenty of great dining options within a 200 yard walk. The staff was so nice I was surprised!! The housekeeping was truly exceptional. Highly recommend for skiing or business.
