DATES OF STAY: early October 2021 This was an absolutely beautiful and impressive resort that I immediately started looking up all their locations. Upon driving up to the resort from valet to to check-in everyone is SUPER helpful and extremely friendly - genuinely happy to have you as a guest. When there were issues, the staff 100% made it a point to correct and go above-and-beyond to apologize for an issue. The coffee shop on site was delicious with several options for dairy or dairy-free, pastries and truffles - as coffee snobs, the coffee was also to our standards. However, we experienced some major issues during our stay. MAJOR ISSUE #1: THERMOSTAT WAS NOT WORKING. This KILLED our sleep for the conference that we were in town to attend (the whole reason we stayed at the Montage) A conference that brought in a significant amount of business for this resort. Being from Arizona, I thought we'd freeze, the room was sooo warm we had to open the balcony door (it was 45 outside) to move the thermostat 2 degrees despite it being set to 61 degrees. We fell asleep by 3am the night before the ONE full day of our conference and had to miss out on some events to even function. We went to our friends room on our last night and it cooled instantly. The mechanic came up to our room and left a nice note and chocolates and fixed it, but we requested the repair at 7am and by 1230pm my husband had to double check that someone had checked on the thermostat, to which the response was “oh, we will get right on that, sir.” We did report this upon check out and received $100 off that night, but still sucks that we missed out on our once in a lifetime event and losing that much sleep affected us for the rest of our time there MAJOR ISSUE #2: BLACK MOLD IN THE HUMIDIFIER. The resort offers humidifiers in every room secondary to the dryness of being up in the mountains. We actually even left the humidifier on the cabinet in the foyer of the room so it was the first thing housekeeping saw when they walked in, but it never got cleaned. Granted it was never something we called attention to MAJOR ISSUE #3: ROOM SERVICE. I ordered medium-rare steak frites and got rare. I called and they rushed my order and did EXCELLENT at making things right but it still sucked having to pay a lot of money for an incorrect cook and to wait 1.5 hours to finish my dinner (by the time dinner was corrected). Admittedly, the steak cut was possibly more like a tenderloin (which is not what the menu said) and maybe the cook was different. I asked for medium with the corrected order and to me it was still more like a medium rare. Same steak was served as part of our event and I felt the cook was perfect but some people felt it more rare than for the general public MAJOR ISSUE #4: NEVER NOTIFIED OUR ROOM WAS READY. We checked in before noon and by 730pm still never heard anything - we had to go back to check in to see what happened. Check-in time was 2pm. However, the lady at registration had a pretty in-depth conversation with us how one room WAS ready but the room with the better view was not and was worth waiting for and we were ASSURED that we would be able to check-in “as soon as the room is ready.” MAJOR ISSUE #5: I reported all of these issues in a survey to the Montage following our stay. Almost 2 months later, not even a single attempt to say “sorry” has been made. For the amount we paid for the resort and considering why we were there with our conference and our large group of people, to not even have these concerns acknowledged is still quite a bit concerning and definitely has us thinking twice about checking out other Montage resorts.

So I am planning a trip out west for Thanksgiving with my family. My dad past away 3 years ago, and every year since his passing, I take my mom and my family away to celebrate his life. My parents were married for 65years. This year we are headed to Deer Valley, keeping it the USA. Initially I booked another hotel, and in trying to arrange some events, including a family dinner, to keep it simple, the hotel dropped the ball. Then came the Montage and Leo the concierge. I called the hotel, was transferred to the concierge to answer some questions. Honestly, and this is not an understatement, I have travelled extensively for over 30 years, he is the nicest, most responsive and thorough concierge I have ever dealt with. After speaking with him, and putting me at ease, I booked 7 nights at the Montage DV. In times where staffing and service has dropped, obviously the Montage is well managed and puts its client first. We are so excited to visit, celebrate Thanksgiving and my fathers life, and knowing this is the level of service we already have received, we can't wait to arrive. Thank you! I highly recommend giving the Montage a look if you haven't visited; I will follow up post my stay. Happy holidays!

An overall good stay whilst on property and spent about $15,000. Paid at check out for everything owed and got closed out receipt. Fast forward three months. Hotel puts close to $800 unexplained additional charge on my credit card they have on file form my stay. Three. Months. Later. There is no legitimate reason for these charges. I called the hotel twice, was made to leave messages for "finance department" twice, always voice mail, they never answer, nobody ever calls back. Finally just had to dispute the charges with Chase. A very frustrating end to what would have been a positive impression. They should not post illegitimate charges, but moreover, they should not post anything so late and certainly not without proactively speaking to the guest first to explain. My time is valuable, and it took me several hours to sort out there illegitimate activity. Frustrating.

My husband and I attended a conference at the Montage just this past weekend. The view was stunning, the room so incredibly comfortable. The service was outstanding - down to the care of the room each day and evening with little super special touches that were like a warm hug. In this day and age where there is so much uncertainty, it felt so good to be treated like a truly special guest. Food was amazing, setting was a vision from "God Bless America". Thanks to the staff for making our visit so wonderful.

I absolutely love Montage Deer Valley but I do have one complaint. There is very high amount of plastic water bottles that get thrown away daily. Recycling bins needs to put all around the property, especially in Compass Sports during the winter season.
