My wife, our son, our chocolate Lab "Brooklyn" and I just spent a much needed and absolutely relaxing weekend at the Aerie Inn. This is our second time staying there. The owners are the most down to earth, wonderful owners of any hotel you will ever stay in. Our dog Brooklyn became best buds with the owner's dog "Bella". Those...

Just got back from a 4 night stay at the Aerie hotel while in town to attend the Vermont Horse Show and I can't say enough nice things. The rooms were clean, comfortable and spacious. The Inn is set back from the road so nice and quiet with with a great view of the mountains. We didn't use it because...

This motel is nice, clean, and just a quarter mile off the main road, which makes it convenient and at the same time very peaceful and quiet. It's run by a young couple who are extremely friendly and nice. I recommend it highly and would stay there again.

The Aerie Inn, located in lovely East Dorset, is a motel-like structure set in a beautiful combination of meadow and woodlands. It was sold about eight months ago and a young couple are the new caretakers and hosts (along with two small dogs!) They have their work cut out for them as newcomers to the area and to Lodge-Keeping, but...

Picture this: 8 soaking wet bikers (really just friendly motorcyclists) pull into your motel. What would you do; turn on the No Vacancy sign, lock the doors, call the local constabulary? Carol, the cheerful proprietor, greeted us warmly and ultimately volunteered to dry our wet clothes. We travel all over the east coast on bikes, and do our best to...

This is the third time we had the pleasure of staying at the Aerie Inn -- and each time we have been blown away by the breathtaking views, pristine and comfortable rooms, and local knowledge and warmth of the inn's owner. We have tried many other places in the Manchester/Bennington/Northshire area, but this has become - by far - our...

I just stayed here this past weekend to attend a conference at the Wilson House and was very pleased and satisfied. My friend and I were greeted promptly by Carol, the owner, with warmth and friendliness. Carol had coffee ready for both of us in the early a.m. both mornings and an offer of continental breakfast as well. Each of...

I stayed here this week during a conference, and it was perhaps the best hotel/motel experience I have ever had (and I have been to many in my life). Carol is very upbeat and helpful to all her guests (even though I misplaced a room key, she was all smiles). We had some nice chats in the evening and her...

Came here for a conference at the Wilson House. It's a 5 minute drive from there and about 15 minutes from Manchester, so really good location. It's just off the road, but tucked away into the mountains giving it a serene feel. I took a great hour walk nearby in the morning. I only spent one night, but it was...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
As the only dog-friendly hotel in East Dorset, the Aerie Inn of Vermont is your front door to experiencing southern Vermont. Whether it's the spectacle of fall foliage, the Vermont Summer Festival Horse Show, or an exhilarating motorcycle tour that brings you here, no other lodging provides such a unique, private experience. Just minutes from activities in the Green Mountains or from water fun at Emerald Lake State Park, plenty of exciting adventures are conveniently found nearby.- mountain biking at Stratton and Bromley Mountains, or fishing, canoeing and kayaking on the Battenkill River. East Dorset is close to it all! The world renowned Appalachian Trail begins nearby and winds through many acres of wilderness, perfect for a leisurely hike. Explore East Dorset, and discover the birth place of Bill Wilson. Attend an AA or Al-anon meeting at the Wilson House, or sit on the front porch of the Aerie and rest, reflect and rejuvenate your soul as Bill and Lois Wilson did when they would come home to East Dorset for a visit. Once known as Erdman's Eyrie and the Eyrie Motel, the Aerie Inn of Vermont was the favorite place to stay for Bill and Lois. Visit the marble quarry at the edge of Dorset, said to be the oldest in the country. Once a major part of Dorset's economy, the quarries provided marble for notable landmarks such as the New York City Library as well as for the marble sidewalks lacing the town and all the marble for the church next to the village green. Yesterday's quarries are now today's popular swimming holes for you and your family to create memories of your own. The welcoming character of local shops and culinary diversity will ensure that you feel right at home. Each small town and village offers a unique venue. Shop for antiques and gifts in the quaint village of Dorset. Drive north to Danby or Wallingford or south to Arlington or Bennington. The Manchester and the Mountains regional towns welcome you with all things warm and wonderful no matter when you come to visit. ... more   less
