We spent two nights at the Essex and it was really enjoyable. Everyone was so friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome. The Essex stay was a gift from our children and we had understood that The Essex was known for it's wonderful food and spa facilities. While the fancier restaurant was closed for renovation we sampled many...

This was our second stay at the Essex, the first time using the spa. We upgraded to a larger room with a kitchen area and a gas wood stove. Overall, the room felt very dated and in need of repair. The bedroom had peeling wallpaper and the bed was old and not comfortable. Our friends, encountering the same type of...

Dear mamacooking, Thank you for staying with us again. Our Facilities Director, Matt Whitman and his team are constantly on the move attending to the various wear and tear issues the Resort is faced with. They have shown great results in many areas but clearly his work is never done and a constant focus is required. Matt is currently overseeing...

We stayed at the Essex recently for a wedding. The front desk staff was very accommodating when we asked for early check in , since we were out of state,, needed a little extra time to get ready before the wedding. We stayed in the Mansion building,, and had 3 rooms for family members. Loved the rooms, very spacious, modern...

My daughter and I stayed there in April. From the moment we stepped through the doors right up to our departure; everyone was so friendly, helpful, and went out of their way to make sure that our stay was the best it could be. The room was beautiful and very clean. The food at the tavern was top notch and...

We stayed one night, using a Groupon coupon. Front desk staff and bellhop staff were very helpful, pleasant and accommodating. The room was large, very clean, comfortable beds, uncomfortable pillows, the furniture was a little worn but overall, fine. Would have liked the room to be equipped with a microwave, mini fridge and hairdryer, again, not a big deal. The...

My husband and I stayed there in April and had a great time. The accommodations were spotless and new and included a small kitchenette. Everything was pristine, with only small things like 3 of the lights in the room being out. It's also a hop away from outlets, and Burlington is approximately 15 miles away. The only real complaint that...

Dear Nina O, Thank you for staying with us. Please accept my apology for our signature restaurant not being available when you visited. The place is clean and nice. We were very disappointed upon checkout to be charged an extra $20/night resort fee. What exactly does this cover? We were told it's for the use of pool/hot tub/workout room. Those amenities are pretty standard, even among some budget hotels so we were annoyed that this hidden fee was tacked on. Overall, I think...

Dear C R, Thank you for choosing to stay with us and for taking note of the cleanliness of the property. The practice of charging a resort fee is not uncommon.
