I should preface this review by saying that my wife and I have stayed in our share of hostels and don't mind "roughing it", in general. However, we were not at all impressed with Turn of River lodge. In retrospect, our mistake was booking a private room here through a Killington package deal, and for $90 per night, we expected...

I have made my Vermont home away from home at Turn of River each year for the past 8 years....wouldn't think of staying anywhere else.... a cozy neat environment where you feel at home from the get-go. AND the most reasonable lodging anywhere near Killington. It is NOT luxury....but it is authentic mountain lodge style with a big stone fireplace,...

the place is a dump. Shared bathrooms. The location sucks since its not near the access road.- its pretty much no where. You can do better for the price and the canx policy is ridiculous

Our family group had a great ski vacation thanks to the Turn of River Lodge. The rooms can be small but the downstairs lounge is very welcoming and comfortable with large fireplace, TV and free Wifi throughout. Some rooms have private bath, some shared. There are even dorm style bunk rooms for $20 a night. The complimentary breakfast was simple...

We are a group of Graduate students that travelled here last January. There was 33 of us in total, and the objective of our trip was to hit some awesome slopes for a reasonable price. This place has a very laid back feel, and the manager, Dick, was more than hospitable with our loud and rowdy crew! He made our...

I've read the reviews and with those that rubbish this place I completely disagree with. I've stayed in some of the finest hotels in the world and many poseurs. This place is exactly what it sets out to be-comfortable, clean and affordable lodging near the resort. My room was spotless and I heard no complaints from the other 17 people...

If your wife / girlfriend thinks that the Holiday Inn is roughing it then The Turn of the River Lodge is probably not the place that you want to take her. However, if you were to tell her that it’s Ft Wilderness at Disney World the small rooms, beds, and bathrooms would be quaint and cozy. The difference is that...

This place is for gnarly dudes on a mini-budget. I checked in to The Turn Of River Lodge with my boyfriend and checked out the next morning because we were so displeased. With six-packs of beer in the entrance hall and vile-smelling ski and snowboard boots in the lobby, the atmosphere was reminiscent of a frat house, or a hut...

My friends staying in the 12 person bunk, one private room, and a private room w/ a bathroom.... we found it to be clean, comfortably warm, spacious great room for socializing with strangers. We...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
For over 50 years, Turn of River Lodge has been welcoming guests to the Killington area. We have rooms with private or shared bath as well as bunk beds. Great fit for large family or group of friends, as well as for budget cautious singles. We are a family-owned and operated traditional Vermont ski or bike lodge/B&B with a warm, friendly, congenial atmosphere, providing affordable accommodations to skiers, snowboarders, bikers and all sport enthusiasts. We are conveniently located 2 minutes from the Killington Skyeship Base and 5 minutes from Bear Mountain, both of which provide easy parking and access to the entire Killington Ski Area. One of the most loved aspects of Turn of River Lodge is the Great Room and its huge stone hearth where our winter lodgers share their mountain experiences. As our guests come not only from all over the United States, but also from all over the world, the apres ski social gatherings make for lively conversations and fun times. We have ski/snowboard tuning room for those who prefer to work on their own equipment. A family style continental breakfast is served in the Great Room where guests partake at the large refectory table. A refrigerator is available for shared usage, as well as a microwave for guests who would like to heat up their own meals. ... more   less
