I just returned home today after a weekend retreat at Good Commons. This is a special place with warmth, phenomenal energy and spectacular food that nurtures your body spirit and tastebuds. I will be back. Thank you for a wonderful weekend!
I've had the good fortune to attend yoga retreats in many locations, and this place is perfection. The host, Tesha, was born to do this work--she loves people, and she loves making you feel welcome, relaxed, and at home. The building is clean, roomy, and perfectly situated for time together, or apart. Modern amenities provide comfort, but the charm is intact. The location is central to many wonderful diversions, should you want a hike, a swim, to go skiing, or to shop in a picturesque small town. Finally, the food!!! The food was fresh, delicious, and accommodated the variety of dietary needs in our group. In addition to a wellness retreat, this venue would be perfect for a family reunion, a gathering of friends, or a small wedding.
Loved the local character and sense of community at Good Commons. Wonderful spot to meet like-minded folks into yoga, health and delicious/healthy foods. Great place for big city weekend break. We didn't actually lodge here but attended a 6-course tasting dinner with local foods and wine prepared by a local well-regarded chef.
Good Commons is a retreat center, that even families can rent for vacations. I was there for a Tapestry Retreat. We were a group of 13. The facility had a nice big room for our meetings.. The beds are very comfortable and the bedrooms and living areas very cozy. I was surprised at how many bathrooms with showers were available, and there was always plenty of hot water. Tesha is the owner/operator/chef. She was very aware of all of our needs and very accommodating. I am on a very particular food plan. I didn't have to bring anything. She made special side dishes for me of anything that didn't fit into my food plan. Plus they were delicious!. I have never gone anywhere to eat that catered to my dietary needs as well. We all felt she should create a cook book! There is a very nice hot tub for use that has wonderful jets, and a fire pit where we sat and told stories and contemplated the flames.... The surrounding area is very picturesque. We drove into Woodstock to see the covered bridges and very quaint shopping areas. Also made a stop at the Old Country Store of course. I highly recommend staying at Good Commons if you have a retreat, meeting, or family group outing!…
A group of 20 friends booked this house for our annual ski weekend in Vermont this year and it was perfect. The house is was comfortable and clean. It easily accommodated our large group with plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms as well as large kitchen, dining and living areas. It was family friendly and sound-proof so that the babies sleeping upstairs could not hear the adults in the evenings. It is well located on a main road near to Killington, Okemo, the Longtrail Brewery and other attractions. We really enjoyed this beautiful space and look forward to booking it again next year!
I stayed twice in this cozy, lovely place near Plymouth, VT. Tesha the owner takes care of every detail and makes you feel at home. Just a short drive from Woodstock is convenient on your time off to go for a bite or do a little shopping. All the surroundings are gorgeous and peaceful...
Here for a yoga retreat and can't say enough about how Tesha made what was already a wonderful weekend into something sublime. Gourmet, healthful food in a comfortable home-style accommodation with a backyard hot tub, firepit and plenty of seating. The yoga room was bright, airy and clean. The kitchen was open to guest and the food was delicious. A second floor living room offered comfy, cushy seating as a place to gather and unwind. Private bedrooms and a sleeping loft provide room for two dozen guests so this would work for a small family reunion as well.
I had the amazing opportunity to join a yoga and spirituality retreat hosted by one of my mentors here at Good Commons. This beautiful house is full of wonderfully centering energy, and it is absolutely "choka-block full" of all you could need during your stay! We were a group of 7, and everyone was absolutely RAVING about the location throughout our weekend. I would love to host my own retreat here some day! Thank you Tesha for this beautiful space!
I went up to Good Commons for a yoga retreat this past weekend and it was so lovely! The drive with the fall tree colors and the winding river on our way was just awesome. Upon arrival we were greeted by the owner Tesha and there was warm apple cider and gluten free/vegan mini donuts ready to be had. The space was simple and decorated as you would expect a quaint country home. I went up to the loft to leave my bag and pick a bed and was happy with the layout and the space for my long weekend. There were two full shower bathrooms, plenty of space for all of us. They also provided water jugs and cups. I loved the yoga room. It was cozy and we were provided with everything we might need. I also enjoyed the story of the place and the vibe was incredible. Vegan meals were prepared every day and they were awesome! So many new things to try to take home, though I would not do the chef justice, she was amazing! It was great having a guest fridge as well for snacks and leftovers. We also had bottomless tea options and coffee. I ate like a queen, had a hot tub after breakfast each morning, and was able to get some time out in Woodstock and the area taking in the beautiful scenery outdoors. I highly recommend getting up there for a retreat some time, or hosting a family gathering there yourselves. It was a delight that I will remember for a long time.…
I've now lead two yoga retreats at Good Commons and have booked a third! For a retreat facilitator, Tesha and Mary are a dream. They are incredibly communicative and helpful to keep logistics running smoothly. They're also hugely connected-- they can pair you with a top chef, arrange to have a massage therapist on site, facilitate transportation with the Good Bus, or make great suggestions on things to do. Good Commons is ideal for a content heavy retreat-- for example, I lead a yoga and writing retreat here. The comfortable surroundings and streamlined flow meant that my participants could delve deeply into the workshops. I also lead a sweet weekend yoga getaway into the fall foliage. The only thing to bear in mind is that you either need cars, and coordinating carpools, or the Good Bus to get to some of the hiking trail heads and nearby attractions. Everything you could want is nearby! Ski mountains (Okemo & Killington), swimmable lakes in the warm months, cute towns, hiking, etc but you do need to drive. Every time I've been to Good Commons I've marveled at the attention to detail. It's beautiful. There are fantastic, organic, locally-made soaps and shampoos stocked in the bathrooms. The yoga studio is great and accommodates a lot of students! The hot tub is always primed. A bonfire will be lit while you linger over dessert. This place is a gem.…
