A fantastic place to stay. The food at the restaurant was 5 star. The room was a little outdated but was good. The cable TV worked well. Just know this, your internet and cell phone will not work. This place is a getaway. The have a gas bonfire ( big ) every night.
If you have no family or friends who want to make sure you've arrived after many hours of travel, this place is for you. Or if you are SURE you won't have a medical emergency that requires professional attention, reserve away. Or if you have no need to check on pets or children or elderly parents, you will love it here. But it is 2021 and few people fall into the above categories. We need to be able to contact the rest of the world, or, at the very least, know before checkin, that there is no cell service. Other than that, the surrounding nature is lovely. There's a great bar and a restaurant, which was closed when we arrived. The sleeping accommodations are rudimentary, as are the bathrooms. Hope for good weather, and enjoy nature!
I have stayed here several time so I certainly expect and recoqnize this as a National Park Lodge. It is beautiful here. A wonderful short and long trail walk. Friendly Front Desk staff and Restaurant crew. The main issue is the advertising for Wifi internet. Many could care less about this. That said it mentions there is wifi internet service. In the past , I did receive sketchy service but service nonetheless which was accepatable. This time I never had service for my entire 24 hour period. So be it. The Tv and setup with Direct Tv was, however excellent. Maintenance needs to recoqnize sleep hours in AM especially since this was last week for guests. A worker was running weed eater at 8:30 Am outside my window. 10:00 AM would be earliest I assume to do so. food Service and food in restaurant was excellent. Only qualms were limited options and slightly over priced.…
Breakfast was ordered from the menu and the service were both very good. After a short wait we were called for an excellent table by the window where the beautiful fall foliage was in full view. Although we miss the Sunday Brunch option, everyone in our party was well pleased with their menu selections and wonderful service.
Fabulous view from the balcony and restaurant ! The beds were so comfortable. I had stayed here in the 1970's so was surprised to find key cards and television. Wifi barely worked, but that's not why we were there. We wanted to go up Sharp Top in the shuttle, but it required a mile long walk. Otherwise we loved seeing the beauty, taking a walk around the lake, and eating such great food overlooking the lake. our burgers were wonderful, sweet potato fries and vegetable, and breakfast eggs were specially good.
