This was an amazing stay for my sister and myself! From the moment you enter their doors! We checked in with Mukib and Parker, they were so helpful and so pleasant to talk to. Our room was so clean and the moment I entered I knew that this particular housekeeper took pride in her job, so thank you so much! Also, later on that night I spoke with Omar, another friendly and oh so helpful front desk experience. You have an amazing team and THAT more than anything else makes me want to return!
Overall we enjoyed our recent stay at this Fairfield Inn in Charlottesville, VA. We made our reservation using a comp room certificate a couple of weeks before ahead of time. The hotel is close to various restaurants and even next store to a Food Lion grocery store which was very convenient. Not far from Monticello which we were visiting made this a good location. Our arrival and check in was handled by Diamond at the Front Desk. She was very pleasant and hospitable during our check in experience. She made small talk conversation as she confirmed our reservation. She let us know that breakfast started at 6 AM (even on weekends) which was nice for us as we are early risers. She asked if I wanted points or a selection from the sundry area, I opted for two bottles of water. Our guest room was what we wanted a King room. The room and bathroom were a bit small but for one night was perfect for us. A coffee maker with a couple bottles of water was present. The bathroom was small with a tub shower. I was surprised that shampoo and conditioner were not only in the large bottles in the shower but also at the sink in the individual bottles. I asked at the desk if they had any bottles of hand lotion and was told they did not, no problem as I went to the Food Lion and bought a bottle. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. Breakfast was ok. The premade sandwiches were offered along with pre made waffles. I have seen the Fairfields doing the breakfast sandwiches hot like this property did and I have seen them served cold with instructions to microwave. They also served a small bite size quiche in one of the chafers. Cold cereal, juice was available as well as hard cooked eggs. The young Asian man keeping the buffet stocked and coffee area stocked was very friendly and hard working. He did well to wipe down tables as guests departed and always had a smile on his face. If you aren't happy with the FFI breakfast - there is a Waffle House across the street. We found a Mission Barbecue across the street for dinner - highly recommend. Management should commend Diamond at the front desk, she is a gem and it is obvious that she loves her job. Also - please commend the young Asian man working the breakfast buffet.…
Exceeded expectations, especially the front desk staff (Diamond)…felt very welcomed, room clean and quiet. Breakfast quite adequate. Excellent value! Great Bonvoy alternative to the Draftsman downtown at much less of a price point..
The rooms were nice. The adjacent room had a pair of dogs that were very loud whenever anyone went down the hall. The real problem is the parking lot is not safe. Our car was vandalized while parked in the rear lot near the back door. The vandal was visible on video but the camera quality was too poor to make any positive ID. The hotel manager was unwilling to help us other that to give us the number for the police.
I'm seven days into a 12-day stay and my room hasn't been cleaned. I asked three days ago for a cleaning service and it was never provided. Five days into my stay I asked for clean sheets. The person at the front desk was very nice, but my request seemed odd to her. I finally got fresh sheets dropped off at my room, but they left my room door open and unlocked when the bolt prevented the door from closing. I had personal and government laptops exposed to theft in my unsecured room for several hours until I returned and discovered my open door. Today I bought a toilet brush, cleanser, bleach, and paper towels to clean my own bathroom. This hotel's cleaning practices are low rate. Not what you should expect for the prices charged. If they don't clean your room when you're here, you have to ask: Did they clean it before I arrived? Also, how clean can the room be if they only clean it once for each guest, no matter how long the guest stays? The breakfast is nothing special. A few spotty bananas and oranges, cereal, and some plastic-wrapped breakfast sandwiches. I just bought some Bob Evans sandwiches at the Food Lion next door and heated them up in the microwave. Better than what is being offered here. The laundry equipment here is out-of-service, so my wife and I had to go to a different Marriott to wash our clothes. The staff here was very cheerful and helpful when they arranged for us to use the other hotel's laundry services. But still.... The coffee here is good, and the pool is nice. If they could just hire a larger cleaning staff, and prepare a hot breakfast for the guests, this would be a good hotel. But right now, this place is a "no-go." The staff at the front desk is nice, but they are understaffed.…
It's a great decision to stay here!! It's a well maintained hotel located near Charlottevilles cute picturesque shopping restaurant District. You can walk there is 15/20 minutes and drive in 7/10 minutes so location is perfect with free parking. The gym is great fully functional! Indoor pool is spot on. The rooms are as pictured that the property provides and has wonderful amenities. The tv has netflix and showtime. They provide indie toiletries, towels, nice bathtub. There is a desk, 2 USB ports (so bring your own if more is needed), microwave, frig, coffee/tea maker, proper lighting in room and a wonderful pillowtop bed even with my bad back. Yes you have the iron, hair dryer, iron board and closet. Heater/ AC unit was working. I'd stay here again if driving thru. Once you have seen Charlotteville no need to go back unless you have family or friends in the area.…
Tried to turn away a mother (who made a reservation online) who was 5 days postpartum after having to leave her newborn in the NICU at UVA. COMPLETEY UNPROFESSIONAL! Absolutely no common sense or compassion showed towards another human being. SHAME ON @MARRIOTT BONVOY
This hotel is simply run down. When we arrived check in was fast. Dropped luggage and went touring. Returned after dinner, turned down bed to find blood and hair on sheets. Called reception and spent the night in another room. Next day had maid change sheets and clean dirty furniture. They never vacuumed room. The fridge broke the next day and leaked into floor. The single elevator was never vacuumed during our 2 nights. Breakfast was so bad we went to Starbucks (4 miles away). There appear to be several families living in the hotel rooms and the halls were filled with cooking smells to the extent that staff sprayed the halls every evening. The staff was very very nice and there was plenty of hot water. They promised to add 10k points to our Marriott account but (surprise) never did. Just go somewhere else.…
Our experience with front Desk was terrible. We wanted to get an early check in and contacted FD via chat in Bonvoy app. No response in 4 hours, texted again. Reply was "ok.noted." I wasn't sure if it is yes or no. I called the hotel and the person on the phone said no even before I gave her my lastname to look up the reservation. After going back and forth and asking her to at least take a look and see if there is a possibility she finally said " yes, we can check you in at 1pm". It would be completely fine if they couldn't accommodate, but what was really disappointing is that she didn't even want to look. Finally, we arrived to the property. I came up to the desk which was empty. The agent (Ciely) was sitting and snacking in the back office with the door wide open. As I was standing at the desk, she slowly stood up and came to the desk. She said "YES.", her overall attitude seemed very unfriendly, like I bothered her. I was taken aback. I have never been "greeted" like this anywhere. I said I am here to check in. Without even looking at the computer or asking my lastname she said " check in time is at 3 pm". I said well, I called and I was told it is ok to check in at 1pm. She asked me " who did you talk to?". The funny thing is that I am pretty sure I talked to her because the voice sounded familiar. Anyways, she finally went ahead and checked me in. This entire interaction totally destroyed my mood. I understand if hotel didn't have anything available till 3 pm. I get it it is Saturday. But for $300 getting an attitude like I came here to bother them, that there is absolutely no desire to assist, not even a smile, "Hello" or "how are you", borderline rudeness was really disappointing. The only reason I didn't put 2 stars in stead of 3 for this review is the night auditor Jada who was very sweet and accommodating. The room was neat and clean, but unfortunately, our arrival experience left a really sour taste.…
The human guest’s review: The Fairfield Inn North provided a good place to stay for a trip to Charlottesville over the July 4 weekend with our dog. The pet surcharge is relatively modest compared to other Charlottesville properties and we could leave the dog in the room unattended and uncrated. All the guests with dogs are placed in one corridor on the first floor, which had a robust canine presence our first night. The hotel is up-to-date and relatively well-maintained, although we discovered a minor housekeeping issue in our room upon arrival. Amenities are what one would expect from a Fairfield Inn; the room was functional, the bed was comfortable, but the accomodations were neither plush nor especially spacious. Charlottesville has a number of attractive, walkable neighborhoods. This hotel is not in one of them; it is adjacent to an eight-lane highway replete with strip malls, chain hotels, and national restaurant brands. The city’s largely moribund indoor shopping mall is within walking distance. (We walked there to get coffee,) Most area attractions are a five to 15-minute drive. The perspective of Oswald, our dog: Getting in and out of the room was easy for me: it was a short walk along the corridor to the humans’ car in the parking lot. While, as my human mentioned, the hotel is off a busy highway (which proved advantageous to the humans when they discovered on arrival that they forgot to pack my bowls and were able to find a pet store nearby), the entrance is on a side street and the property is shielded from most street noise. There was ample space (and grass) for my walks on the property, which includes the hotel, an adjacent supermarket, and a shuttered restaurant building. Charlottesville also boasts an extensive series of walking trails, some a short drive from the hotel, that my humans enjoyed taking me to; I would have preferred to go out for BBQ.…
