A pleasant locally owned hotel, quaint theme, has been there forever. It is comfortable, has exercise facilities and pool, more than many of the higher-priced hotels in the area....hence a really good deal all around. Not the hottest and latest decor but it certainly does the job for the price.

The English Inn is a basic hotel at a reasonable price. It's well kept and very clean. Some areas are showing their age, but the owners seem like they are trying to update as they are able. I stayed in a king room which had plenty of space. Could easily have fit a nice little seating area in addition to the desk and dresser. The bathroom was nicely updated. My only complaint was my room was by the lobby and all night I could hear the lobby music in my room. The breakfast was your typical warm hotel fair with scrambled eggs, bacon, and sausage. The breakfast room was rather chilly in December (as if there was no heat), and definitely could use a refresh. If you aren't a fan of the breakfast, Bodo's bagels is within walking distance. Would stay here again if in the area!

My best friend and I had booked 3 nights (Nov 18-21, 2023) When we arrived in the room we saw bed bugs crawling on the two queen beds. (See pictures below) We went to the front desk immediately and showed them the pictures and a dead one we had killed. They could have cared less. Need less to say we left and cancelled our stay. They refunded the 3 nights but then charged me a huge amount for one night. We were in the hotel for a half hour max. When I tried to talk with the manager he ignored my emails and my calls. It took a dispute to my credit card to get my money back. This at one time was a really nice hotel, but now it is a horrible one (due to things I won’t mention) and my relatives who live in Charlottesville confirmed this. Stay here at your own risk. I would have given them zero stars if I could. I wish I had talked to my family before I booked it.

As an Englishman i can honestly say this place was wonderful, the lobby is typical English manor house, the rooms while not themed are extremely well decorated and finished, the place was impeccably clean and even the pool was spotless

We had to cancel last minute because of sickness and the hotel was very understanding and accommodating. We were looking forward to our stay after reading so many great reviews about the comfortable beds, quiet rooms.and fantastic breakfast. We appreciate their kindness and will rebook once healthy.

“The English Inn “ well if you want to feel like you want to stay at an English motorway cheap hotel ……this one’s for you!!! I was there for a wedding October 19th-23 a lot of the wedding party we’re staying there. Looked ok on paper BUT a tired lobby with an arrangement of tired dusty fake flowers greets you with a front desk man who wondered if I was his long lost friend with the same name ? Greeted us I was in the annex with a charming courtyard but the room over looked the parking lot 🅿️ with a bright light on all the time ….. there were black out curtains BUT just them hooks for sheers no other drapes!! This was a suite it had some kind of kitchen and a sofa bed that I would not have let my dog get on it was SO grubby . Some one else commented it was a shame the space had no windows in a review I see well this would have looked on the only retiming factor the court yard .But no the only natural light was the window with no sheers. The place was clean enough but for a total price of $1038 for the four days it was a very expensive lesson in we’re not to stay. NOT ONE cleaning person came near the room even to check the garbage and towels and on checking out the gentleman oh YOU take it to the trash bin in the parking lot . The breakfast was not too bad and there was a pleasant older lady helping people properly the highlight of the staff. I know we’ve had Covid etc but there’s no excuse for charging $309 a night plus taxes for this kind of place. Also sadly people describe the lobby as charming and English which sadly is nothing like the UK . But I’ve tried to be honest with this place and I don’t usually write reviews but sadly I had to vent about the lack of value at this motel I forgot to mention the half use lotions and potions made in China in the bathroom .

The hotel room was fine (if you are ok with cold white light - not my preference), but the staff was completely ignorant when I tried to find an accommodation for my daughter with celiac at breakfast. I have never been told that the person cooking in the kitchen had no time (over the course of an hour and a half) to speak with me.

Nice atmosphere true to the pictures. Looks like an Old English inn both inside and out. Beautiful lobby with a fire going all the time. Great place to sit and relax and enjoy a glass of wine. Great room and delicious breakfast. Staff was exceptional and could not have been nicer. So friendly and helpful in every way.

It is in a lively setting and, despite having a highway running behind it, it is restful. Our reception was friendly and efficient. Our room was clean and most comfortable. The room was sound proof so no noise of any kind could be heard. We enjoyed our stay and will stay there again.

The room and the bathroom were spotless. Beds were extremely comfortable. Wife actually went looking for the same mattress online but couldn't find one. Very friendly staff. Hot breakfast. This will be our go to hotel in Charlottesville.
