Very much a motel. Convenient to UVA's campus. No frills. Bathroom was subpar, the size of a shoe box with gym sized towels. The hotel seemed more geared towards a frat getaway weekend than a place where parents would stay to visit their student.

Despite the appearance of the lobby, the Cavalier Inn is a glorified motel. The towels were all threadbare, I stained my pants because the iron was caked with crud, and the AC unit was rattling so loudly that I couldn't sleep. Turned it off and just sweat all night. There are many nicer hotels in Charlottesville. But the staff was...

Very nice place, rooms were quite spacious. All amenities including breakfast. Only draw back was the door to the room was on the outside rather from a hallway. Good spot for someone visiting UVA. Within walking distance from many restaurants.

The hotel is a bit dated, but we wanted somewhere we could walk to the University from, and this was excellent in that regard. They have enclosed the east side of the building, to eliminate some of the traffic noise from Rt. 29, which is at their doorstep. The walls of the hotel are not very well insulated. We could...

We headed to Charlottesville for Labor Day weekend and chose the Cavalier Inn because of it's proximity to the college area and it's price point. We checked in and the staff was friendly and the room was clean. We had problems with the TV but it was immediately fixed. We stayed for three nights and housekeeping did a great job...

Needed a last minute hotel for a wedding I was going to and preferred one with a pool so my daughter could go swimming while we were there. I have no complaints, this hotel was quiet and comfortable and just right for what we needed. The staff was always very friendly and helpful, room was clean, pool was nice and...

Nice motel, near everything, small pool but we had it to ourselves. Close to trolley stop. Desk staff nice but not knowledgeable of area. We were on street side but wasn't loud. Rooms are on the small side.

Old. Worn out. Dirty. The staff was friendly and helpful but the facility is tired and out dated. If you like 1960's era motels this is your spot. Please tear down this place and put up something worthy of the University of Virginia. Free parking, good location and free breakfast.

So it's July and super hot...be advised the room doors are to the outside, like a motel. One side, facing the street, has been enclosed with sun locking tinted plexiglass. Rooms are nicely decorated with small frig and microwave, ironing board and iron. Pretty standard hotel layout with two full beds. If you are up for walking in a college...

I've stayed here a few times over the last 14 years, but this was the first in a very long time. The hotel is beyond dingy at this point. The room was dark, dank, musty, you name it. I've never wanted to get out of a hotel room so quickly. It may be a great location for visits to the...
