Great place for cozy home-cooked dining and entertainment. Casual, fun atmosphere. Welcoming hosts and weekly Trivia nights- Thursdays. Perfect pies, coffee and goodies. Drop by late in the week on an early hour 5-8 are the best times.
Visited here for triathlon weekend. Greeted with sparkling wine and great food. Traveled with daughters, and owner was kind enough to find 2 rooms, both nicely decorated. The girls' room was very pretty, and they loved it and slept well both nights. Owner was great with ideas (thanks especially for the fossil beach idea). Also, the breakfast was amazing. Both days, we all pigged out at breakfast. Owner was very kind to put on some coffee both mornings early that I could have before I raced. Minor negatives: the market was closed when we were there, so missed out on that (next time), and sometimes the bands at the nearby bar were terrible--but they always seemed to call it a night at a reasonable hour.
My husband and I love staying at the Tides Inn & Market! We are spoiled with kindness by the owner Meghan and eat until our hearts content at Caitlin's market. We have been several times and I can't believe all the new upgrades we saw his time! New TVs, mini kitchenettes, and the linens and beds are soooo comfy! The family style patio at the market allows you to talk to the locals and out of towners and you become life long friends! The fun activities there especially the live music and movie nights are so fun! The food at the market is outstanding always something local and new and so thoughtfully put together! We brought our 8 month old son this last time and we were in the suit looking over the patio and he slept so soundly! the reviews about smell must be very old bc we didn't have any smoke smell in our room. We had such a wonderful time sitting and talking on the front porch and our son played in the flowers and the grass for the first time at the inn! We took a great picture of the beatific cherry on the front yard, too! Thank you, Meghan, for always taking such great care of us during our stay! And to, Caitlin, your creativity with food impresses me every time! Until next visit!…
Our 2 night stay at the Tides Inn was the spring board for a new favorite get- away destination. We will definitely return to see Meaghan the owner and her daughter Caitlyn next year! The house is decorated with period furniture surrounded by charming accents. Our room was spacious and quiet, and included a sitting area and a large bathroom. Not like many other B&B's I've been to! Breakfast included delicious foods from the market, and was plentiful . We ended up having all of our meals at the market as they were superb and had such a variety. We stayed with several other couples and enjoyed fine food, good wine and great music both nights. I look forward to my return trip, I'm not sure I spent enough time rocking on the front porch!
We have just returned from a wonderful 2 night, 3 day stay at the Tides Inn in Colonial Beach. The rooms are the size of suites, with sitting areas, period furniture and spacious bathrooms. Being the offseason, the hotel was not filled to capacity but their was an adorable 8 month baby directly below us and we didn't hear a peep. Add to this old world, quaint country charm a connected market that serves exquisite meals from a CIA trained chef and you have the makings of a perfect get away weekend. The market also serves as a venue for local musicians to serenade the staff and patrons. We plan to make this a regular stop in our travels. Thank you Lois, Caitlin, and especially Meghan, for your kind hearted hospitality. Fondly, Anne and Sean Kane
