After dining at The Inn at Little Washington the night before, all I wanted was a burger and nachos. On a recommendation from one of the servers at the Inn, we headed to Flint Hill, about 15 minutes from Little Washington for dinner. Public House is an interesting mixture of stately VA mansion and modern, swanky city eatery. Their menu...

The Flint Hill Public House is a gem out in the country of Rappahannock County. Located in the middle of Virginia wine country, this is the most affordable place in the area. Not your regular B&B...modern appointed rooms, great restaurant and staff. Breakfast is available for guests, but is not advertised. The only reason it is a 4 versus a...

I decided to surprise my significant other with a romantic weekend getaway. It was a cold weekend. We arrived and checked in around 4pm, and spent the rest of the afternoon hiking and relaxing. We were the only customers that were staying at the hotel that night- there are only 4 rooms- so it was very quiet and private. The...

We stayed here for a birthday weekend but we had dinner reservations at the Inn at Little Washington (only a ten minute drive) so we did not try the restaurant. Our suite was very clean and we loved the contemporary decor. The entire staff was friendly and made us feel comfortable -- we had lunch at the bar and tried...

We stayed at The Flint Hill Public House a night in January and again for Valentines Day, both times in the Washington Suite. We had a lovely stay both times. We booked a night to celebrate a quiet Valentine's/Presidents' Day weekend and had a fabulous time! This Inn is a gem! The grounds are beautiful, the location convenient and very easy to get to. I chose to stay in this lovely teeny tiny town to celebrate my Mom's birthday with my sister. We had the Wakefield Suite, one of four rooms/suites that this apparently well-known restaurant has on their upstairs floor. The suite was large and comfortable (with a bit of a problem - see later) and clean. There is a lovely little public...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
More than 100 years of history..Perched on a hill above the namesake village it overlooks, Flint Hill Public House & Country Inn is a large white house that is hard to miss. The building is a former schoolhouse that has been a fixture in the area for more than 100 years. In the early 1900s, a one-room schoolhouse was moved from the premises to make room for a new school called the Flint Hill School. Built in 1906, the new school was instrumental in educating Rappahannock County children until 1960, when the property was sold and became a private residence. In 1986, the schoolhouse/residence was sold and renovated and opened as The School House Restaurant. In 1992, the restaurant operation was leased as The Flint Hill Public House until it closed in 2008. In June 2011, new owners purchased the property and undertook an extensive renovation and redesign, hiring noted Washington, DC, architect Ernesto Santalla. The complete renovation took the building down to the bare walls and included moving an interior stairwell to the outside to accommodate four luxury suites on the expansive second floor. The new Flint Hill Public House & Country Inn opened in early 2012 – ready for another 100 years as a local landmark and gathering place. ... more   less
