My wife and I stayed at the tides inn for a weekend. We were pleasantly surprised by this resort . While resort fees always have annoyed me, here it was completely understandable. Bikes, kayaks, paddleboards, par 3 golf was available and free. The resort was nice and staff was wonderful. You will spend some money on food however the food is...

Thank you for your review and I am delighted you enjoyed your stay. I agree with you on the Resort Fee. At the Tides we include just about everything without an engine in your resort fee, everything from internet to bikes to golf, tennis, kayaks, paddleboards, the list is actually very extensive. the idea is that once you are here,...

My wife and I planned a weekend getaway from N. Bethesda, MD to the Northern Neck where we had never been before. We stayed Friday and Saturday nights at the Tides Inn and enjoyed a lovely room and spectacular view of the surrounding coves and landscape. The Tides Inn was all that it promised, in the range of enjoyable activities...

During a recent visit with friends we decided to go to the Tides Inn for brunch. It was very good with a wide selection. We were never rushed or felt like we were. The wait staff treated us very well. They were also very professional. The wide variety included seafood, prime rib, salads, desserts, waffles and French toast.

Thank you for telling us of your great lunch experience. It is often thought that Hotels and Resorts are only open to the guests staying at the resort. Nothing could be further from the truth, we welcome everyone to our restaurants and feel that the synergies between our guests and locals provides a far better and balanced experience for all....

Recently stayed at Tides Inn in Irvington, VA. What a great experience. As a long term resident in Europe ( 35 years) , I had the pleasure and privilege to travel widely in Europe, Asia and Africa. Sitting on the terrace overlooking Carter's Creek , I did a mental comparison to my concluding 2 days and one night stay at...

Well thank you very much for comparing us with such places as lake Cuomo and some of the more exclusive European resort towns. You describe our style impeccably and it is so nice to know that our efforts are recognized. As a European I think our inherent training tends to be reflected in what we do, perhaps on your next...

The Tides Inn is in a class by itself. By that I mean, everything about the resort is first class. My husband and I had a room in the main building overlooking Carter's Creek with an expansive view of water. It is a great place to just relax by the pool or there are numberous activities available. The food is...

My parents have been going to the Tides Inn for years- and while my son was in school near by this was one of our favorite places to stay. Perfect place for relaxing. Beautiful view (worth it to upgrade your room). We have never had a bad meal in their restaurant. There is a nice terrace off the restaurant with...

Thank you for your review. I am always happy when my guests have had a great stay. You mention the Par 3 golf course on site where we feature big hole golf, the hole is actually a bit bigger to make it easier for beginners, you can also use the course to play Frisbee golf or if junior really cannot...

As a twelfth generation Virginian, for some reason there had never been an occasion to try the Tides Inn. What on earth was I thinking? Here we go: The greeting and departure: It was pouring down rain. Parking was easy and the Valet was very helpful. On the way out, the Valet was quick and courteous (different gentlemen). The food:...

Well thank you for taking time out of your day to write such an inclusive review. It is good to have reviews from guests who are here on business as while we are a resort it is also a perfect location for business events and meetings. I think I am just going to home in on that pesky anchovy. Lets...

This place was phenomenal! We'd never been to this part of Virginia even though one of us is a Virginia native. We could not have picked a better place as our home base for exploring this part of the Northern Neck. The accommodations were superb and the staff equally so. It's a luxury establishment, but not stuffy in any way....

Thank you for your review. We do not like "Stuffy" but we do like to treat you the way we would wish to be treated ourselves. I am sorry we have been in a bit of a damp spell but the weather gods are predicting we are heading for warmer dryer weather and our fleet of boats and watercraft are...

Thank you for your kind comments, The Tornado was a little more excitement than we care to experience but at least it was a few blocks away and we saw no damage. We needed a place to stay between Fayetteville, NC and Bowie, MD on our return drive from Florida.. The Tides was situated just where we wanted to be, in a remote part of Tidewater Virginia. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
On a lush peninsula in Virginia's historic Northern Neck, the waterfront Tides Inn has welcomed generations of friends and families who cherish the relaxed pace of local life and the Southern hospitality of our staff. Guests can learn to sail at the on-site sailing school or explore the calm waterways via paddle boards, kayaks and canoes while spotting golden eagles, osprey and herons. The 18-hole Golden Eagle golf course is a pleasantly challenging wooded course with water hazards, and there is also a Par-3 course, tennis, croquet, and spa, plus bicycles for pedaling into town. Our farm-to-table cuisine highlights oysters from the nearby Rappahannock River, and we're located on the Chesapeake Bay Wine Trail with several Virginia wineries nearby. ... more   less
