It's very easy and very cheap to do that trip round by train . At the Pompeii scavi just outside of the train station building there is a tramvia bus doing the Vesuvius tour . It goes 3 times a day not think it's 11.30am,12.30 pm and 14.30pm it's 10€ with return but if you want to go on top of mountain it cost another 10€ each .
About the car park at the hotel iam not sure . We were also thinking to rent a car but to be honest with you the way Italian people drive is just horrible so we decided to stay safe and don't drive there . No rules at the road at all !!!!😊have a Great trip it's well with it !!! If you decided to do the trip by train you can do easily both Pompeii and Vesuvius
