We have been guests the last week of august. The hotel was full but it was very quiet with a romantic atmosphere in the beautiful garden with local plants and parfumes close to the beach few meters away. Tommaso is the best concierge we have ever met. Thanks to his suggestions and empathy and perfect description of the locations we could explore the beauty of the island at the best. We are very grateful to him snd to all the personnel . The hotel is very clean and elegant and very relaxing if you book the new rooms at garden level on back. We will certainly come back Ciao from Marco & Giuliana

The location is excellent. The hotel and the grounds are clean and tidy. Staff was very nice, polite, professional and kind!! Our room was a good size overlooking the mountains and it had a balcony! Food is delicious and service is also very good! The swimming pools are amazing! - I really loved the pool area - We can’t wait to return!

We stayed at the Zaro hotel just outside Forio last july and have already booked again for this summer. Lovely friendly staff especially at the reception, they cant do enough to help you. From helping to translate the menu, helping book days out, getting ferry times and even gave us a lift home at night a couple of times! The rooms are huge and beautifully decorated and immaculately clean.we had a seaview room with balcony. The food in some half board hotels is a bit repetitive but here we never ate the same thing twice in 2 weeks. The antipasto starter buffet has enough selection for a whole meal.all the food was delicious with all tastes catered for. The grounds and gardens are lovely, as is the pool area and never too busy. A very relaxing holiday and cant wait to return

A great hotel for to relax, we can either stay at the pool or the beach is only a two minute walk from the hotel the staff are brilliant, ready to help. the rooms are beautiful, very clean and well maintained, air conditioning and amazing views with our own mini bar, the breakfast is brilliant as there is a huge choice of what you can have, we didn’t eat there often at other meal times as we are normally out and about as ischia is beautiful to wonder as we love all the rustic restaurant around the island and meeting the locals, life there is at a slow pace which we love, but when did have lunch or dinners at the hotel it was very good, we have been at different times of the year, we found August to be the busiest month and hot🌞🌞🌞, they have two pools which my husband loves, plenty loungers for to have and lots of shaded areas that you could have snacks and drinks all day at the poolside bar. Last year we took our grandson 11 years old and he said grandma you are coming back here without me anymore he had a great time we couldn’t get him out the pool 🤗 so great for couple and as a family

This hotel is undoubtedly in one of the best locations, with views over the beach and a short stroll into Forio. Our room was spacious if a little dated, with a sea view from the balcony. There were some minor issues with cleanliness. In the main the staff were friendly and helpful, but the restaurant manager was a little like a Sargent Major! The grounds are beautiful, with two pools, lots of sunbeds, an outdoor bar, tennis courts and a pathway leading to the fabulous beach below, where there were a couple of bars/cafes. But the hotel food ................. so repetitious and nothing authentically Italian. The breakfast buffet was very limited and offered exactly the same options each day. We had to make dinner choices at breakfast time which was fine, but there were only ever 3 starters (one of which was always half a grapefruit) to choose from and two mains, which were always much the same thing day after day. Some type of frozen fish was on offer most days ............. why frozen not fresh considering the location? We were also unable to choose where to sit in the restaurant, and were allocated a specific table on arrival which was ours for the duration. Such an archaic system. Thankfully there were plenty of wonderful Italian restaurants and cafes in the surrounding area for us to sample fresh authentic local dishes, so all in all we had a fabulous holiday, but it was mainly due to the location rather than the hotel.

If you love Italy, Italian people and Italian food you will love Hotel Zaro. The staff were friendly, welcoming and extremely efficient. The hotel and grounds are kept amazingly clean and tidy. The rooms were spotless, large and airy. Sadly it is clear that not all guests have treated the rooms with respect and there is some minor damage to the furniture. The daily housekeeping was faultless. The location is simply stunning. We were hiking up to 10 miles every day and found the food to be more than adequate. We were extremely satisfied with the daily options available to us. We had a fantastic week long stay and had no complaints at all, in fact we were extremely sad to leave. When considering this hotel please bear in mind it is on an Italian island and it is truly authentic. If you want an English hotel, with English food and nothing but English spoken this is probably not the right choice for you.

I booked this via Fleetway Travel in the UK who organised it well with very efficient transfers from Naples Airport. It was well priced with half board included. The hotel is beautifully situated with fabulous views and whilst it would be fair to say it has seen better days, it was maintained exceedingly well and was spotlessly clean with staff seemingly washing, cleaning or mopping at all hours of the day. Yes, the rooms were tired but were very functional in that everything worked. The two swimming pools were a delight, one heated, one not. Bar prices were normal for the area and everything so far so good. What let it down was the food, both in terms of variety and presentation. Yes, there was fresh bread and cakes for breakfast every day. Sometimes a little fruit included but the fruit salad came with giant storms attached to various fruits and after a couple of hours was looking rather sorry for itself. The attempt at orange juice was terrible. Dinner had to selected at breakfast, a choice of soup and pasta..ish type starters, a choice of two main, an unnamed fish dish and a meat dish of sorts and dessert, a choice of fresh fruit (two small oranges or a small piece of pineapple etc) or a variety of cake. The portions were not adequate. I had chicken and vegetable dish one evening comprising a small drumstick and two mouthfuls of vegetables. To be fair there was the same anti-pasta help yourself plates of tomatoes, beans, beetroot etc which was there if you arrived during the first half hour of service otherwise you were left with the dregs of leftovers. Tea or coffee wasn’t included. As I say, a decent hotel but given you’re in Italy they could do so much more with the food. I spoke to a number of people, also on half board, who either went straight from the restaurant to the nearby takeout pizza venue a couple of minutes away to fill themselves up or who just didn’t bother eating in the restaurant at all.

This hotel is just getting used to the needs of UK visitors, having mainly Italian and German guests. For example, there are no english channels in the 400 available on the televisions. Only a few of the staff speak good english, however they are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and nice if a little dated and WiFi is only available in some public areas. The one pool is well heated, but the other is rather chilly. The food is good if a little monotonous and vegetarians will have very limited choices. There are some silly rules about not replenishing buffet items and even hot water. The location is good as far as the beach is concerned, but there are many steps and steep slopes. There is a half mile walk to the bus stop and the bussed are usually packed, however they are very cheap. We were travelling with a mobility scooter, which brought a variety of problems, especially on busses and trying to avoid steps.. For what we paid it was excellent value on a beautiful and interesting island. Arrangements for tours etc. were very good, but communication about them was terrible. Discovering that tours could only be paid for in cash was very inconvenient, as we were not informed in advance. (Avoid the Capri trip unless you like crowds and chaos.) The hotel is very convenient for the beautiful Mortadella gardens; 500 meters, but it's all uphill! Forio is within walking distance. Overall an enjoyable stay.
