Let me start by saying the grounds are very beautiful..Our room was also off-site....I wish they would have explained that on their web site...Half way down the mountain and not close to the restaurant is not acceptable. We agreed to pay for an "upgrade "to the main building...First room had no shower door...floor totally soaked...moved to another room with no AC..maintenance came..no help next day said it would be changed..nothing that day then when we were ready to checkout they decide to change the unit...2 rooms that never should have been occupied!!!! towel charges for use at the spa and pool....front desk did not know that NOWHERE in Forio can you change money..NOWHERE..All I shall say to Pasquale, the manager, is this: We hope that you and your wife get the same treatment that you gave us....Definitely need some customer relations training. Would not recommend or return....
Thank augiemyson

Three adults from our family, plus a baby, spent four days in this hotel.
We had a slightly shaky start when we arrived to discover that Traveline had suggested that my husband and I were in an annex, some distance from our daughter and her young baby, but that was quickly sorted out.
The rooms were clean and comfortable, the staff were very pleasant and obliging, and the food was good, fresh and plentiful.
The pools were sublime. You could almost feel their health benefits, and there were plenty of sun beds in the pool area. The hotel provides a frequent, free transport service down to the lovely beach below if you fancy a dip in the sea.
I really couldn’t fault this establishment and would return again to it in a heartbeat if I was again on this beautiful island.
Thank Barbara D

The main reason for the low rating of this review is that it just didn’t live up to expectations. This hotel is NOT luxury 4 star hotel, as it advertises itself as.

Firstly, the journey from the UK is long, it took in total over 6 hours, by the time there was flight, ferry etc, so when we arrived at the hotel we were exhausted. But they wouldn’t let us in the room (even though it was ready) until we had a welcome cocktail.. It was only when I nearly fainted that hey eventually saw us to our room. A room which wasn’t even in the hotel. Yes I had booked the annex, but at most hotels the annex is still part of the hotel, not up a hill and across a busy main road, as it was here.

The room was dated and old. It had good wi-fi, but that was the only thing nice about it. On the day we arrived we reported an issue with the toilet, we got a call make about it 6 days later – really not acceptable. I think there was some CCTV in the rooms as no matter what time we left when we came back the cleaner would be in there, bit no don not disturb signs, so we just had to sit outside and wait for the cleaner to vacate. The cleaner often left windows and doors open, letting in bugs and even the stray cats, I subsequently got bitten heavily. NOT LUXURY.

The pools were not as big as they are seen to be the photos (very clear photography) – the children’s pool was ridiculous – thank goodness we didn’t have kids! NOT LUXURY.

However, the worst thing was the food. Partly because it was so restrictive of the hours, they only offered food at breakfast, then 1pm to 2pm and dinner not until 8pm. No food available for 6 hours!! When we asked reception, they said that our only option was the supermarket for snack in that time period. The food itself was bad. The buffet was the worse I have ever seen and the food that was served had very little flavour. The dining room was too hot and too busy and really uncomfortable. NOT LUXURY.

We “treated” ourselves to a meal at the Oasis hotel – we wish we hadn’t. The food was very poor and had no flavour and came out at different times. Our sides to accompany our steak, came out before the steak, very strange. The restaurant did give me the biggest laugh of the holiday though. They offer a “Romantic private dining experience”, we witnessed this (I think the female was crying with embarrassment not happiness), basically all they do is pit a screen round you!!!

I'm sure there must be good things, but sadly all I remember is the bad. The beat thing I guess is we only stayed for 7 nights.

A major part of whether you like this hotel or not rests on where your room is as there is a main hotel centre which sprawls down the hillside and rooms in a couple of annexes which are off site, on the opposite side of the road.
We were initially put into an annex which we felt was totally unacceptable for a 4 star hotel. The room was poorly equipped in a soulless location alongside the main road and the walk from the annex was, quite frankly, dangerous with nowhere safe to cross and narrow, uneven pavements. After voicing our displeasure, we were finally moved to Villa Guisy - the room was smaller but it was in a quieter location with easier access to the hotel.
Food was served in the main hotel and was, at best, OK. Dinner is only from 7.30 to 8.30 and it was like being on a conveyor belt with one plate taken away and the next served almost immediately. Choices were limited and the vegetables with the main were very dull. To be fair, the antipasta buffet was good (but it didn't seem to change at all in the week we were there) and the staff were friendly and helpful. The dining room was very crowded and noisy as all guests were in there at the same time.
Breakfast was more relaxed, with a 2 1/2 hour window to eat there. Again, there was no variety - each day was exactly the same, acceptable but not inspiring. No chef station cooking things fresh for you and very little variety of fresh fruit. Things constantly ran out as well.
The hotel is located on the main bus route around the island which made accessing other areas easy but, as a previous traveler stated, there was nothing to see in the immediate area around the hotel apart from shops and evenings were a particularly dead time.
Tourist information in the foyer seemed to be non-existent and the reception staff never seemed particularly helpful.
The pools are good, especially the thermal pool which has jets and beds etc and there always seemed to be plenty of sunbeds available.
The spa and beauty area is huge and quite expensive. We had a free visit to the sauna/steam etc included but I think it was about £12 for an hour if we wanted to go back.
You have to wear a hat in any of the pools (although lots of people weren't and no-one picked them up on it) and they charge a daily rate for hiring pool towels.
There was also a tourist tax which we were not informed about in advance and only knew about when we were checking out.
I am guessing that the hotel got its 4 star rating because of its pools and spa area rather than its rooms and food!

We stayed here for 3 nights in the Suite Exclusive. Intended as a luxury relaxing end to our honeymoon. The Suite was everything we had hoped for, very private and with every possible luxury feature. The hotel however was too big and too busy for our personnal preferances and if it had not been for the privacy of the suite I don't think this hotel would have been to our taste. The hotel was clean and well presented, the staff were all very friendy, it was just very busy.

The evening entertainment is normally held in the Oasis, their restaurant/nightclub nearby. They have dancing and special guests. These nightly events are advertised at the hotel itself.
