We upgraded our room to a suite. Loads of space and 2 sunny balconies with a view of the sea. Buffet meals were of a good standard. Served by a local bus service to Funchal, which doesn't necessarily run to time table.. Gyms and spas which I didn't use. Yoga classes tend to be early in the morning.
We arranged our air & tour through Walkers World of Toronto and HFTravel of GB arranged the guides and routes. Our 12 day stay at the Hotel Galosol could not have been better: great room with an ocean view and comfortable beds. Hotel staff at all levels were professional and personable and no difficulties with language. Breakfast and dinner buffet were varied and very, very good. A 2 minute walk to the bus stop for a 20 minute ride into the capital of Funchal. There is an large and well equipped exercise room, sauna and small indoor pool. There is a larger outdoor pool and with a short walk you can swim in a salt water pool or dip in the ocean. There are NO beaches in Madeira
This is a modern, impressive and friendly hotel in an ideal location with a wide range of good facilities. Rooms are very comfortable: they’re all good but it’s worth paying the small amount extra to have a sea view. Meals are served buffet style and there’s almost too wide a range of options: they have Ayurvedic options daily, and there’s a huge range of meat and seafood options, though on some days there were few vegetarian choices. Breakfasts were top-notch and the omelettes cooked to order were always very popular, alongside a wide range of fruit, yogurts, cooked breakfast options, cheeses and cold meats and pastries. There are three outdoor pools including a lido pool down by the sea and a clifftop infinity pool, plus an indoor pool, a large gym and a high-quality spa, a pool bar, pizzeria and a seafood restaurant just above the lido. There’s little if anything missing, and I had a great time being based there while leading a two-week walking holiday. A big shout out to to the staff too, who were invariably really friendly and helpful. And it’s only 15 minutes from the airport and 10 or so from Funchal - again, ideal.…
One week 2 adults and 2 children 9 and 10. The first roomchoise was not as good as we wanted, but the staff was very helpfull and we got a masterroom. The breakfest is very good and also the buffet in the evening is perfekt. We will get back.
I am staying here right now, and the resort as a whole is amazingly clean (spotless!), rooms spacious, beds great, nice views, great premises, pools super nice, breakfast is abundant, the free gym yoga class excellent - I’m thoroughly enjoying the facilities! You can really tell the resort is well taken care of. It’s great that all guests at the different hotels can use all facilities, it is really a great destination (I haven’t even visited Funchal yet after 3 days...) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ However... First I got a room in the main building, w a garden view. It was nice, but I was woke up at 06:30 when people started to get up and everyone passed by my room and I heard every single cough and step. A bit later the phone in the reception started ringing, and I heard every tone. So I asked to change room to something less central. The nice staff showed me a room off the main building and I thought it seemed fine, I just wanted a good nights sleep by now. But, this morning I woke up to my neighbour having the TV on at 06:30, sounded as if it was in my room. Later, they started garden work 3m outside my door w chainsaws and tonight I’ve been listening to cars outside and some more involuntarily Portuguese TV. So basically, the doors are wafer thin and I probably would try to book at Galomar next time hoping for some privacy, because I really can’t stand hearing every single thing from my neighbours. And I guess they from me! As I in all other ways am so impressed by the facilities, cleanliness and staff, I’m sad to say that this is a dealbreaker for me since it somewhat spoils the amazing relaxation after a €90 treatment at the Ashoka Spa. I really want to be able to sleep when I’m on vacation and this totally stresses me out. ⭐️⭐️…
