My husband and I looked forward to our holiday in the island we love. We chose Royal Orchid because it was near to the sea, with wonderful views. We arrived at the Hotel and it was everything we hoped for. Our room with a separate bedroom and bathroom, with a large terrace area excellent. Staff at Royal Orchid could not have been more friendly and helpful,Especially the young lady at reception who help sort out things when are taxi was late. Cleaners so diligent, room was kept spotless every day. BUT Unfortunately we had to take our meals in the sister hotel adjoining our Hotel The Rokamar Hotel. It had the weirdest food ever. My bud and who can eat anything Was a bit taken a back. I lived on cheese and biscuits . Would not recommend unless you like rustic type cuisine. Strangest breakfast I have ever seen. Thank goodness for bread rolls and toast. We booked the Royal Orchid Hotel , moor expensive than the Rokamar Hotel, where the dinning room we had to use. Would recommend you check before you book.. …
Me and my husband didn't like this hotel. It is very old, old fashioned hotel and not a place for young couple (we are 29). Food wasn't good at all...very few options.ll foods taste the same. Everyday I strugled to find something to eat. So if you are picky with the food and looking for modern place with young people - Don't go there. Staff was kind and helpful.
We are just back from our 3 weeks stay in Royal Orchid. The hotel is very nice: lovely location, very friendly and welcoming staff, very clean. the Jacuzzi , sauna and swimming pool are nice. The junior suite we stayed in was nice, everything was there for a comfortable stay. The shuttle bus to Funchal was very much appreciated. it was well organised with booking in advance. One thing that was a little bit disappointing was food. We were on Half board, it was ok, but we wouldn't call it excellent. We still enjoyed staying in Royal Orchid and would stay there again when we come to visit Madeira. Thanks to all the staff of the hotel.
Just back from a 7 day holiday ,at the Royal Orchid in Caniço .Bed room furniture was very tiered ,bed was clean ,hotel was clean .Food was awful ,managed a bit toast in the morning ,boiled eggs and fresh tomato was only on every other day .Went to the steakhouse for a decent meal .smell from the drains in toilet was disgusting .Trying to get a drink from the bar took for ever if there was a few in .we meet a lovely couple who we made friends with .But defo will not go back .
Nice hotel beautifully situated on a cliff, clean, with a great ocean view from the room and balcony. Tasty and varied food, delicious fruits. Free sunbeds and umbrellas on the cliff and by the pool in sufficient numbers. Jacuzzi and gym. Late check out (extra charge) possible. Great stay.
