We stayed here for a rest & relaxation holiday in early October with their Preferred Club benefits. The hotel has been refurbished to a high standard in both the public areas and the bedroom which were well appointed. The hotel was kept spotlessly clean. We stayed All Inclusive and ate in all the available A La Carte restaurants as well as the buffet. The overall standard of food served, we felt was of a good quality, although choice was limited in the A La Carte restaurants. We found the staff friendly and keen to give good service and in general they succeeded. There were issues with sunbeds around the pool and when raised with guest experiences we were listened to and solutions found to ease the problem. It is not the same as a Secrets Resort in the Caribbean, we didn’t expect it to be, but it certainly offers similar facilities, services and vibe and is set in a lovely quiet area, close to the marina with shops, bars & restaurants. We would definitely go back and expect it to improve further once they really embrace the Secrets brand.

Myself and my husband went for a day trip to the spa here and it was pure bliss. The spa facilities were incredible and the treatments were so relaxing. Everything about the place was the epitome of a relaxing spa experience. The staff were so kind and welcoming. We’ll definitely be back before we head home

After previously staying at a couple of Secrets resorts in the Caribbean, we were looking forward to our holiday at their Lanzarote resort but we were disappointed. The standard is no where near as high, maybe just the difference between Caribbean and Canaries but this lets the Secrets brand down. We stayed in a swim up suite and the room itself was of a good standard. As well as a large wardrobe with hanging space and plenty of shelves we had a walk in wardrobe. We had two king sized beds and a well equipped bathroom with large walk in shower and double jacuzzi bath. My one complaint on this would be there was nowhere to hang wet towels. The shared swim up pool with our own loungers and chairs was a big plus as there was no rush for the loungers by the pools, a problem for the main pool and preferred club pool. The area that needs biggest improvement is the food, which can only be described as awful. The al a carte restaurants offer limited choice and what was described as sirloin in the Italian (Potofino) is actually tenderloin, not good if you don't eat pork for whatever reason. I asked for mine well done but had to send it back as it was raw in the middle. When I got it back it was burnt on the outside and still raw in the middle. I didn't even attempt to taste it. The buffet served the same food every night with very little variation and unless you timed it right and got it freshly cooked, it was at best lukewarm but most of the time cold. There was a grill chef who would cook a selection of meats and fish but even this was risky. The best of a bad bunch was Bluewater Grill who did serve hot meat & fish but the vegetables were pre-cooked and kept warm. None of the restaurants/chefs seemed to know how to cook meat properly so if you like your meat done more than medium rare you'll be out of luck. The preferred club did a reasonable lunch menu including burgers but again these came medium rare unless told otherwise when ordering. Although we were all inclusive, we went into the nearby marina several times to eat which has a good choice of restaurants and the food was hot. We had beautifully cooked steaks at The Harbour Club and can highly recommend. We saw quite a few other couples from our resort each time we went and is highly recommended. The entertainment was reasonable, a different singer on each night of the week but only lasted around an hour. By far the best was the female soul singer on Monday night with songs from Tina Turner, Whitney Houston and a few others. There are covid restrictions, some adhered to, some not but all the staff wore face masks at all times we saw them. Can't say the same for some of the guests but it was always the same people. The rules are reasonable, if moving around inside marks should be worn, if sat down in restaurant/bar you don't need to wear them. I'm not sure what the rules are regarding cleaning but usually tables were given a quick wipe with a damp or wet cloth. There were also no printed menus etc. All hotel information was accessed by QR code on your phone or other device. There was no resort map so difficult to find where some things were on the resort, I never did find the spa and didn't know there was a gym on the resort. There was a sports bar mentioned by some people we were talking to but again no idea where it was located. Only option would be to ask staff but they work hard enough without constantly being asked for information by guests. This information should be freely available. We normally like to try all the different cocktails but without a menu this wasn't possible. On two consecutive nights there was a private function/show at the front on the artificial beach/sand area that went on until after midnight and staff tidying up until 1am. While this area is away from the main hotel and rooms, it is just yards away from the swim up and sea front rooms. There was no chance of being able to get to sleep while this was going on. Towards the end of our stay there did seem to be more new staff, so the shortage of staff is being recognised and is being rectified although the coffee shop remained closed for our entire stay. As some reviews have mentioned many of the preferred club benefits weren't available. The resort isn't really suitable for people with mobility issues. There are MANY stairs inside the hotel and outside areas. There are a limited number of lifts but these are out of the way and you end up walking a lot further. There are slope alternatives to outside steps but these are long and steep. Our holiday was spoilt for the second week by a new couple in the room next to us, who were part of a group. They arrived already drunk and seemed to think the patio/pool was for the whole group to use. Several guests asked them to keep the noise down and be more considerate to others but this was mostly ignored. Eventually management spoke to them and told them that area was only for the use of the people booked to stay in that room. Everyone else had the use of the main pool. Things did eventually improve but the whole party spent the week getting/staying drunk and making a nuisance of themselves. Every morning they all arrived to use the swim up pool and start drinking. They had a party on their patio on the last night, again drinking and being rowdy. They showed no consideration for other guests but after the first day staff left them to it. I think management should and could have done more to deal with these people so that they didn't spoil others holiday. We have been to Lanzarote a few times but this wasn't the best hotel we've stayed at, there are better adults only hotels.

It was a fantastic experience. The place is so cozy and clean. The rooms were soooo good. The stay, great, both to relax and to get to know the island. My boy and I especially liked dinner at the Blue Water Grill. Although the rest of the places you have to eat are spectacular too. On the other hand, the super familiar, friendly and kind staff. I would like to specifically thank Rafa, the animation guy. A very willing boy, very close, made us feel at home. We had a great time in the aqua gym with him. The only negative point is the little variety of the buffet. Bottom line, YES, I recommend a stay here in all respects. I really hope to be back soon.

Hotel is nice and clean. Pool at the preferred club part is the cleanest pool I’ve ever been in. Staff are friendly. Rooms in the preferred club section are large and really nice. Nice view of the sea from our room. Food is really disappointing. Breakfast food is cold in the portofino restaurant (for preferred club guests). Unless you get eggs freshly made. So the baked beans, sausages, “bacon”, hash browns. Everything! We have fed this back so will see if they fix it tomorrow but surely to goodness they shouldn’t need to be told by me to keep the food warm???????? And let me be clear. It’s not even it’s lukewarm. It is cold. Like it has been sitting there for hours with no heat. Even though they are all in hot plates!! Lunch is ok. The buffet at the world cafe is reasonable. Not masses and masses of choice but good enough and, thankfully, generally warm or hot when it should be. Al a carte dinners - very, very disappointing. We ate at the barefoot grill and the steak was cooked so badly we didn’t finish it. And tbh we had ordered the lamb chops so not sure how we got a steak 🙈. Fried prawns come whole so they’re not deveined and I personally don’t like sitting picking poo out of a load of prawns at dinner time. We also tried the oceana restaurant which we had been told was the best of the al a carte restaurants open (half are closed due to “Covid” 🙄) but it wasn’t good either. We had the bisque and there is a lot of it (too much tbh) with the smallest bit of roasted monkfish. The fish of the day (dorade) was ok though the skin was soggy. Either cook (and serve) it crispy or take it off. The Angus heart steak was chewy and looked and tasted like Chuck beef. Another bit of steak that couldn’t be eaten (we’d happily eat a cheap Wetherspoons steak in full but this stuff just cannot be finished). Basically we won’t be going back to any of the al a carte restaurants during our stay which is super annoying as we’ve paid a lot of money for all inclusive here and we’re now going to either have to have a buffet every night (no thanks) or pay for dinner in the marina (which is a 10 minute walk away) or in Puerto del carmen (a 10 taxi ride away). We have been to a couple of restaurants down at the marina and the food there is much, much better than at the hotel. Would especially recommend the Indian - Mumbai masala.
