Stayed for 7 nights, great location in centre of town. We were welcomed by a lovely lady in reception, the owner. Room was immaculately clean, very comfortable King size bed. Tea/Coffee making facilities. There was some noise at night, but nothing too bad, no soundproofing. Breakfast was ok, no cereal, but repetitive. Lovely lady in breakfast room, making sure everything was topped up. Would definitely stay again, thank you to all the staff.

Just returned from the Hotel Mar Blau and found it to be a very nice experience. I traveled solo and stayed for 4days on a half board basis. The room was okay but it was only used for sleeping in and using the shower which was very nice and hot. The breakfast was good and omelettes were cooked in front of you with your choice of fillings also cold meats and fruit were readily available. Evening meal was fine. One thing I will say is the price of drinks in the hotel was good and in fact cheaper than some of the bars in the resort, also the wi-fi was free and very good. I used the hotel as a base to explore the Costa Brava. The train station is about a 15min walk away via the promenade or a nice walk through the town, bus stops about 100mts from the hotel, also a very good large supermarket nearby for these late night tipples on the balcony. Would I return to the Hotel?? In a word Yes..

Ok, I will be honest and say that my wife and I love calella and have been before to other hotels there, we were lucky with perfect weather for 10 days and there was loads going on in town, Oktoberfest and end of Minerva fete but, saying all that, we still found this hotel brilliant and excellent value for money. The only difference we can find that would give it 4 stars would be room service. Anyone who quotes bad service or rude staff, please try being polite and speaking their language. It’s lovely when you have a conversation in Spanish or French. Hotel is great, no other word for it. Rooms yes were basic but perfectly adequate. Beds comfy, towels changed every day. Fridge that worked. Could have done with a kettle but we always take our own anyway. Ask for a high floor, we were in 713, quiet and nice balcony although when will people stop smoking in your space? Vile. Restaurant, more than enough choice especially breakfast, pancakes made to order Sunday’s, omelettes other days. Loads and loads of choice of salads and meats, couldn’t fault it and ate far too much. Load your room card with 50 euros and get 10% off already reasonable bar and restaurant drinks. Pool excellent although cold, sea even in October over 70 degrees. Lastly the solarium on 5 th floor free with jacuzzi and great views to the sea. We will be back with family soon we hope. Well done all at mar blau. Made for a very good holiday for us

Very basic but clean. The breakfast is good. The bar staff are extremely rude. Some of the receptionists are very nice, others are extremely ignorant. There is water in the room on day one and they do not put it in after that. If you ask for water after 11pm you have to pay for it and get from a vending machine. Do not try and move the sun loungers at the pool because the staff will tell you you can’t for no reason- yet again the bar staff!

We stayed here the end of September, and loved it! We had never been to Calella, but will definelty be going back after falling in love with the place. The hotel is in a great location, a few minutes walk to the centre and beach. Also there are plenty of supermarkets located close to the hotel. We arrived very late, and the man behind Reception was very friendly and welcoming. All staff in the hotel were lovely and friendly, particularly the two men serving behind the bar. The hotel is very modern and spotless. Our room was cleaned everyday, and to a very high standard. We were room only, so only had snacks and drinks at the hotel, but these were tasty and a good price. The pool area is good, with plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas that you can add to your area. Again the pool area is kept very clean and the pool is quite big. Overall we were very pleased with this hotel and would stay here again when going on holiday in Calella.
