#3 of 4 hotels in Culebra
Tamarindo Estates provides twelve 1-BR guest rental apartments on a remarkably virgin 60-acre estate, in the quiet and exclusive Tamarindo beach location, across from Culebra's Marine Reserve. It is nicely secluded, yet a short 5 to 7 minute drive to town, where restaurants, grocery, and other stores are located. The 12 guest apartments afford great views of the ocean while you relax and sit on the apartment's private, covered deck.

I am hesitant to share about this amazing property, because I want it all to myself! Twelve rustic units share 60 acres of pristine rainforest and perhaps the best snorkeling beach in all of Puerto Rico. The accommodations are bare bones- this is not the Four Seasons. But who cares? The property is the experience. We went last year, and brought my sister and brother this year. They were as delighted as we were. It’s all about the snorkeling.

We stayed here in July for 4 nights. Let me start with what we liked: the actual location is secluded, incredibly serene, the view of the beach and mountain in the distance gave us such a peaceful feeling, the snorkeling beach was great for snorkeling not so much for bathing as it is rocky, the ac in the bedroom was great, the actual location was beautiful and having a private beach was really great. Good hot shower when you turn the water heater on but you don't even need it as the water comes out lukewarm. The seated hangout area outside of the apartment was nice. Cons: The pool is empty and closed as of July 2018 (maybe due to Maria Hurricane?), the actual apartment only has bare essentials meaning there's nothing except for toilet paper, what was left of paper towels, not so soft bathroom towels, and a few cloths for dish washing. The mattresses were on the uncomfortable side with bed linens being the worse quality (our sunburned skin kept rubbing against the roughness of the bed linens/blankets), the stacked sofa bed in the living room was simply unusable. The kids were protesting they couldn't sleep on it as it was too hard. We accidentally dropped a bottle of juice on the floor and took us a while to find a mop which was outside and there was no cleaning supplies to clean the floor. They need to put some love and care to the inside of the cabin. There was only one very small grill outside for 3 apartments and while grilling at night in the grilling area the electric pole light would go out every minute or so. Recommend renting a jeep vs a golf cart if you go out at night as the road is pitch black, isolated and not as close to downtown. Plus you can fit more things for the different beaches to go to. The American lady that welcomed us was very nice and warm but we never saw her again when we needed to talk to her about the sofa bed being so hard or needing cleaning supplies like clorox to clean the floor. Although I think she did say we are on our own unless there was an emergency. We just did the best we could on our own, as it seemed it would have been a hassle trying to reach out. This place has so much potential but feels it is being abandoned by management, sorry to say but that was our impression. They still asked for $150 a night so it was not cheap. Even with all these cons I would go back again if it is only two of us (no kids) but this time would stay for just couple of days. If they take care of things, make the stay comfortable and open the pool then I would stay there all the time.

We had a two-night stay at Tamarindo Estates Beach Apartments and were so pleased to do so. Our hostess was incredibly pleasant and informative. The accommodations were simple and fulfilled all of our needs with a comfortable bed, good shower, and air conditioning we could adjust. The location was perfect - easy to get to various snorkeling sites on the island and direct access to the best coral reef we snorkeled (those staying outside of the complex do not have beach access to this reef). All in all, highly recommend Tamarindo Estates Beach Apartments!

We love Culebra and have snorkeled there many times--this was our best snorkeling yet! The apartment was basic- very clean and perfect for our needs. The view was incredible and the secluded quiet was wonderful. The hospitality was excellent and the communication was superb.

The Tamarindo Estates Beach Apartments are a delightful place to stay while enjoying the wonderful snorkeling offered by Culebra. The cabins are equipped with kitchenettes as well as both indoor and outdoor eating options. Also, there are only a dozen apartments in a huge area, so it's blissfully quiet and you enjoy tons of privacy. We spent six days in Culebra happily snorkeling with many turtles, rays, squids, and a host of fish, as well as the hard and soft corals, and a single shark! During that time we stayed in the Tamarindo Estates Beach Apartments, lived on French toast with carrots, onions, tomatoes, cilantro and beer, and found that it was possible to swim out from the Tamarindo beach to both the Melones as well as the Carlos Rosario Beaches. A vehicle is handy since the distance between the Tamarindo Estates Beach Apartments and the closest grocery store is over two miles, and there are several hills on the way.
