We've stayed at some B&Bs where we felt like we had to socialize with everyone at the breakfast table, and as we're usually trying to escape for a few days, we just want some peace and quiet! The owners Jean and Craig have it just right. Our room was gorgeous and so comfortable. Breakfast was delicious--and the dining room has...

We arrived on a Saturday afternoon after doing our own wine tour. We were a bit disappointed because we had booked a room on the upper floor with a balcony, but were told that the toilet was malfunctioning and were given a room right off the main reception area. It was a beautiful room, but I would say the bed...

and we will whenever we are nearby. Jean and Craig Stratton are among the most charming and welcoming people we have ever met. They are almost the best reason for staying there. But then there was also our luxurious four-poster bed with its snuggly down comforter and our wood-burning fireplace (two of my favorite things). And then there was our...

Delightful antebellum spacious residence with five units, very clean, elegantly appointed, each with private bath, near UVA, Monticello, furniture outlets in Farmville, laid back and very friendly staff/proprietors. We've made a point of making a weekend stay for at least 15 years, at least once or twice a year. I enjoy a round of golf or two in spring, summer...

My boyfriend and I stayed at Chester over the holidays and had an excellent time. We arrived at the B&B and were greeted by Jean and Craig Stratton and their family dogs Suzy and Lucy. We were shown to our incredible room with our own bathroom and fireplace (in every room). Since we arrived kind of late we went straight...

We have been regular visitors to The Chester for at least 15 years (which kinda says it all!) So, when my daughter decided to have a private wedding, not in Atlanta, nor Philly, nor Baltimore, but convenient to all family; there was only one choice. We knew that Jean and Craig had the experience; and we already knew what a...

This was my first stay at Chester B&B, but it certainly will not be my last. This lovely B&B was one aspect of a great girls weekend spent floating down the James but such a big part. Craig and Jean were wonderful hosts who anticipated all of our needs, from cocktails on the porch to fresh coffee in the morning....

What started out five years as a celebration with about 13 of my closest friends for my 40th birthday has now turned into an annual event at Chester. We love Jean and Craig and the service they provide! We eat good food all weekend - float down the river - and get lots of pampering and relaxation thanks to the...
