If you have never been to Virginia Beach, know that the resort area is at the end of a runway for a Naval Air Station. While they do not fly late at night, nor early in the morning, much of the rest of the time, the noise is deafening. That is not the fault of nor under control of this hotel and the rating does not reflect this. The beach in this area is wide, clean and beautiful. Good: WiFi is great. Can stream and do video conferencing. View / location is wonderful. TV is good. Great furniture with a pull out desk. Complementary coffee is excellent. So is the flavored water in the afternoon. There is a fan in the bathroom, missing from many hotels, which helps to clear out moisture. The indoor pool is very nice. Personnel are very nice and friendly. Bad: Kitchenette does not have any utensils, bowls, plates, cups, toaster. How can that be a kitchenette without any way to use it as a kitchen? Room 1100 sounds like there is a jackhammer going on upstairs (it’s not that loud and we could sleep through it). Might be the elevator motor. Balcony slider does not have a screen. Came into a room with multiple flies. Cannot sleep to the sounds of the ocean. Needs a light on the balcony. No hand towels. No bath mat. Bathroom floor had trash on it. WiFi is somehow stopped by the slider. Cannot do Internet on the balcony. WiFi requires sign-in several times during our stay. Does not remember me. Noisiest refrigerator we have ever heard. Message light is flashing on the phone. Calling to pick up the message returns a busy signal. Only one of two elevators was working leading to delays (fixed on our third day). No place to put luggage. There should be two luggage fold up holders in the closet. Sofa is uninhabitable because of the ‘wind’ from the AC. Do any executives from IHG ever stay in these rooms? Please give the window cleaners a squeegee.…
We stayed here for Neptune festival. Hotel lost power for almost 24 hours and hotel was without electricity. Hotel was not very responsive. Terrible customer service during power outage. Asked about a discount and they said no. We have stayed here before. Won’t stay here again.
Awesome customer service and staff. Very close to everything. Very nice room. Very clean. Can walk to everything around you. We’re down for Neptune festival, which was canceled because of Hurricane Ian.we still had an awesome weekend with the other couple we were with. We stay here every time we visit Virginia Beach Virginia.
It would have been a five if I had not found hair in the bed and my family shower was not dirty. However, the staff was extremely accommodating and apologetic. They next day I believe my family was the housekeeping first room to clean. In fact, we were preparing to go on the boardwalk and she waited ( did not leave ) until they left the room to clean it. The Hemingway restaurant was good. The location of the hotel was excellent and the pictures I saw online did not due the hotel justice. The photos online gave me the impression that the hotel was dated and it was not at all. It had a modern decor. I would definitely stay here again.
Visited the Holiday Inn Thursday, August 18th - Monday, August 22nd Pros • Friendly staff at check-in • Location on beach and close to restaurants • Toiletries sponsored by Dove • Renovated room • Free onsite parking w/ valet services • Microwave and mini fridge in room Cons • Room keys system was down. Was unable to access room without staff master key on the day of check-in • Below housekeeping standards. Housekeeper did not clean room during stay, only replaced towels on day 2 of 5. Contacted the front desk to have housekeeping come back and clean. When an a staff member arrived he only wiped down the shower glass and counter top. He never cleaned the shower, toilet, floor or refreshed the towels. When I approached him in the lobby he stated he was not “trained” in housekeeping • 12th Floor is the hottest room. Extremely warm hallway • 1 of 2 elevators out of service. A wait for the elevator took about 10 - 20 mins each time • Nails in ceiling drywall showing • AC unit leaking outside leaving a puddle of water on deck. • Makeup on pillowcase (housekeeping) Overall housekeeping really dropped the ball. I like to feel like I’m on vacation when I’m vacationing. Rooms should be cleaned, linens should be fresh and services should be met. This is unacceptable.…
Nice very clean hotel. The ocean front from the balcony is beautiful. The hotel is on the broad walk , near to everything. I stayed only 1 night , wished to stay longer. The Virginia Beach water is murky but we knew it.
Anthony (aka. Brian) made our late night check-in easy. Anthony had everything ready for us and even helped carry one of our bags up to save us an elevator trip. This small detail really made our check-in memorable. Thank you Anthony!
We just returned from a week long stay at the Holiday Inn on 21st street Virginia Beach. This hotel is centrally located in the middle of VB and all of the activity. This hotel has just recently been fully remodeled and all of the rooms are updated. I enjoyed the fact that EVERY room has a balcony that faces the ocean. It was relaxing to wake up and go to bed with an amazing view. The hotel has a small lobby area, exit to the beach, small fitness center, indoor heated pool overlooking the beach and a restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. The room: I have zero complaints about the room, all the furniture, bedding, electronics, flooring and electronics have all been recently updated. In fact we were the first person to stay in our room since the remodel. There was a mini fridge and microwave also in every room. Our fridge did run on the warm side though. Bathroom had stand up shower and good hot water flow. Remodel may have been done quickly though because the shower doors both kept sliding open while in the shower. Mattresses were wonderful!! We were always able to reach a front desk staff and most were friendly. Parking can be tricky-there is a lot in front of the hotel but there isn’t always a spot so you may need to park across the street in HI adjacent lot. It is tight too if you have a larger vehicle it may be an issue. Elevator and stairs available. Hallways were not air conditioned at the time of our visit and there were three power outages. The front of the building overlooks the street/shops and restaurants. Very walkable to many attractions. I think this hotel is trying hard to improve and meet a good standard of customer service. A few cons I would like to note: Upon check in we got a notice saying “full daily housekeeping is up and running” I though well that’s cool!! First day we were asked by housekeeping if they could “skip your room today” sure I said and signed off on the sheet. Day two, three and four-our beds were made (with existing sheets), trash emptied and dirty towels (that I left on the floor) taken. None were replaced though. So when we returned to our room at night we had no towels…this happened three days in a row. Also no counters or bathroom fixtures were wiped. But it seemed like they were training a new housekeeping staff which I’m sure is challenging. My child left a very sentimental “favorite blanket” he has had since birth from a family member that has since passed at the hotel when we checked out. The blanket was like new and a good size-he was hysterical about losing it. I called the hotel multiple times since our visit asking if there is a lost and found or to speak with someone in house keeping but I never got a call back-sadly. Let’s talk food: hotel restaurant is over priced and mediocre at best. It is an excelled location thought and beautiful outdoor area and views. Such potential. Service not great and low food standards. Breakfast…so most IHG HI hotels have free continental breakfast. At this location it is only included if you have a certain rate. So at breakfast the servers immediately asks “do you have a breakfast voucher” which is really off putting for many guests. I am an elite gold guest and felt this was a poor business approach. Just include the free little buffet breakfast for everyone! Instead of making some guests pay $16-we we’re also told our first day because we were not part of that rate the kids would need to pay $10 for breakfast. But kids are supposed to eat free…by putting servers on and making them get guests drinks instead of guests getting their own drinks is a really poor system because then it makes people feel obligated to tip a server they never see again just for getting them that one free drink. It also makes the servers grouchy because they are only making $2-3 a table. Just a thought but make the breakfast Buffet included and put ONE server on to focus on the food only and one hostess to seat and bus tables. Everyone would be much happier. Being an elite member I had also requested a higher floor in a quieter area as were are light sleepers and our kids go to bed early. I understand on busier nights these requests can’t always be met. We got a lower floor right next to the staff room that slammed open and closed ALL night long and people were smoking in. The pool area was clean. There were rusted bolts sticking out of the door handles but I assume those will be upgraded soon. The person in charge of the pool might need a little help in the proper distribution of chemicals because they way it was done improperly created a film of chlorine and chemicals on top because it wasn’t distributed properly (see pictures). Gym is small but clean and great view of the beach. Hallways and lobby area all updated and clean. Overall this hotel is on its way to being successful. With the nicely appointed updated rooms and amazing views. Some wonderful front desk and maintenance night staff also.…
Just stayed here and it was great. You can tell there is a focus on customer service. Everyone was helpful. I also ate at the restaurant both nights I was there and enjoyed that too! I would highly recommend staying at this hotel!
Horrible experience.. book the hotel in August of 2021 through hotels.com price was $616 for three nights which I chose the pay at the property option.. fast forward to June 22 and hotels.com tells me I still have a reservation.. show up at the hotel and they informed me that they tried to pre-authorize my card in September of 2021 which had been compromised and was denied they claim they tried to get a hold of me but I had no email no voicemail no nothing so I had no room because they had rebooked the room of mine.. I was angry and told them they needed to make this right so the manager called down the road to another oceanfront Holiday inn and they said yeah we have another room we're going to charge you $389 a night which was a significant amount more and I thought that they should honor myhotels.com fee.. they said no you have to take that up with hotels.com and I told them you had no right to charge my card because I had not chosen the pay immediately option from hotels.com well the manager got rude with me and said well there's nothing I can do you have to take it up with hotels.com.. so I called hotels.com and they called the property and told me that yeah they were allowed to do that and I told the hotel.com woman but one of them needed to make this right because both of them were pointing fingers at each other.. needless to say I had no place to stay.. and I will never ever ever in my life stay at another Holiday inn and especially not this one on the waterfront of Virginia Beach very very angry.. and I hope this hotel goes bankrupt.. shame on you this was a birthday present for my son that we would have an oceanfront hotel and we ended up having nowhere to stay and Holiday inn should have made this right they should have found a way to help us.. and they were selfish and just didn't care and shame on them! I would not let a dog stay there!…
