We went on 12/2, got there about 3:00 to check in. There was no heat, when I went to inquire, they turned the heat on. We left and didn’t get back to the room until about 10.00. When we used the restroom the toilet wouldn’t flush. In the morning my wife went to take a shower and there was no hot water. She washed her hair with the cold water from the shower. We then went to the adjacent pancake house for breakfast and to use their facilities. After breakfast, we walked back to our room and the door was locked! When we went to the front desk, the maintenance man had one excuse after another. How dare you rent a room with no hot water or toilet!?! How did the condition of the room get overlooked? Why weren’t we offered another room? We have stayed with these folks for decades and never had any issues! I guess that customer service is no longer available, but if/when we go there again, I will want to see the assigned room before signing any paperwork!

Hotel's Favourite
We stay in a lot of Choice hotels. They give to the animal shelter in Washington, DC, near where they are based. They also usually offer a good value, simple, yet clean. When you stay in a Rodeway Inn, you have to expect that the hotel will be a bit worn, a bit on the older side. This place was a bit worn. But that is fine, given the price. Beyond that, I have all positive things to say. It was very clean. The staff was very nice. It is in a terrific location, walkable to Colonial Williamsburg (and even to the train station, if you are willing to walk 30 mins). Very comfy. Breakfast was good enough to get me going. We picked this hotel because the other economy options in the area had terrible reviews and were more expensive. This place had good reviews. The good reviews are well deserved. Certainly, if you want luxury or something fancy, stay somewhere else. If you just want a clean, comfortable, friendly place to stay, so you can focus on enjoying Colonial Williamsburg, stay here!

Rooms in need of updating and repair. Very dirty carpet. Breakfast is not what is in pics. Only cereal and powdered donuts. Temp in room hard to control. Heard others complain about temp and wee told it was working. Not attempt to resolve. Asked to see manager, told not available. You get what you pay for. I will not stay here again.

For sure this is an older motel as all of the rooms are drive up to your door, but it was reasonable and clean inside the rooms! We booked through Booking.com for the rooms. I can handle old if it is clean and it was inside the rooms. As for the Continental Breakfast if you don’t arrive early there isn’t anything left. Not sure if it’s because clients load up and return to their rooms to eat later or if they are short on staff to refill the continental breakfast items, but we didn’t eat there for the two day nights we stayed. After 10 AM there is no more coffee so I guess you should either make coffee in your room or get up earlier for it(?). The Manager/ Owner was very professional and courteous. The General Manager who had been there for many years was not quite as friendly however we enjoyed our stay. It was convenient to Colonial Williamsburg and other restaurants in the area. Overall we had a good stay!

The rooms are more like the Wallflower than the Prom Queen but they weren't bad. They could use a little updating and some maintenance, but were a good deal for the price. The breakfast bar had a decent variety but you have to let them know it needs to be restocked. We were comfortable and it wasn't loud.

Wow, horrible motel. Extremely dark, worn rooms, broken doors, lamps, furniture - carpet is filthy. We woke to roaches running around on the desk and then saw more on the floor so got out as fast as possible. Breakfast (we didn't eat obviously) was open packages of mini muffins from the grocery store. Avoid at all costs.

Had slight confusion on the room being cleaned informed the regional manager who was running the desk at the time and was promptly resolved. Everything was to expectations afterwards. Granted there is a few imperfections from layout changes and carpet shows age but for the price it's fine. Had breakfast around 9am still had plenty of cereal and donuts not a huge variety but enough to start the day. I can say beds are comfortable and location is quite didn't feel a need to worry.

Not happy, they put us in a room that was in the back in a corner and it wasn’t a very nice room. The carpet literally looked like there were huge stains of blood, like someone had been murdered in there! I’m not sure if it was blood stains or what but to put a family with little kids in there to play around was just wrong. Then we couldn’t get the tv to work so my husband tried to call the lobby and the phone in the room wouldn’t even work! He walked around to the lobby and the woman said he just had to keep messing with the button on the remote to get the tv to work. Well, there was me, my husband and my 17 year old son and none of us could get it working so the little ones couldn’t even watch tv. Did our best to entertain them and get them to sleep but they need to definitely clean that place up!

When we booked this hotel we chose it for the location close to our son's apartment and the cost of the room, which was on the low side. It had reviews ranging from average to good, so I felt positive about the decision. When we checked in is when my disappointment began. The desk clerk informed us that we would not be receiving service from the housekeeping staff, but would have to come to the office to turn in our used towels in order to receive more, and that if our trash needed emptying, we were to place the can outside our door. It was 1:30 am so I did not even considering having an argument about this. The room itself was also disappointing. The sofa looked as if it were about 30 years old, very dingy, generally dirty looking upholstery. The carpet was stained. Water from the bathroom faucet tasted of mold, and when I rubbed a washcloth against the place where the water comes out, it came away with black mold on it. (We drank bottled water the rest of our stay.) The grout in the bathroom was cracked and black with mildew stain. That night after we had gone to bed, the duvet on the bed seemed to be getting thinner as if its filling were settling to the bottom. In the morning I found that the duvet had not been secured inside its cover because the means to attach it, loops and ties, were broken. I weighed whether or not to go to the office and demand a different room, but I knew from past experience that requesting a different room in a bad hotel was just like selling one problematic used car and buying another one. You trade one set of problems for another. Plus, we were so tightly scheduled with events related to my son's graduation from William & Mary that weekend that I didn't have the time or patience to try that. Also, I thought, you get what you pay for, and we hadn't paid much. But when I saw other rooms receiving full housekeeping services that we did not, I realized I should at least inform people of my experience. Make sure you understand the terms of the price you pay for the room, lest you wind up in our situation.

Best thing about this hotel is the location. You are only a quick walk to the backside of Colonial Williamsburg. Upon checking in the room was cold and I came to find out the turned off the heat for the season. It was in the 40's and cold so heat is needed. I had to ask for a portable heater. Secondly, I had to ask the staff to turn up the boiler, the water was not hot. With that being said, I like to note the staff their was very kind and hospitable, accommodating my request. Rooms were okay, clean with a refrigerator and microwave. Its an old building so don't expect anything you would receive at a newer building. Breakfast was horrible. There was nothing to eat, only two apples were there and some cereal. Cheapest breakfast I seen. I don't blame the staff, I think maybe the Owner of the property is kind of frugal. Descent hotel overall.
