We spent just one night here two weeks ago and it was one of the best B&B's we have stayed at. The hosts Charles and Jill are marvelous and we enjoyed our conversations with them. They make you feel right at home. Their home is so cozy and welcoming and tastefully decorated. We stayed in the Nuthatch room and loved...

My husband and I stayed 4 days/3 nights at the Kangaroo House and thoroughly enjoyed it. The home is beautifully furnished in the common areas, and each bedroom has a different feel to it. We stayed in the Nuthatch room because of the super cool built in bed. Its a fairly small room, but we didn't mind. After all, we're...

My husband and I stayed at the Kangaroo House for 4 nights, and it was a wonderful experience. We stayed in the Steller’s Jay suite. The suite is just perfect – it’s roomy but still cozy for two, with a comfortable king bed and I loved the stained glass accents. Common areas have several sitting areas that guests can easily...

My 30-something daughter and I love this B&B. It more than meets both of our travel needs. One feels an immediate sense of comfort in the enhanced natural setting outside Kangaroo House, and it's very cozy inside, like an island getaway SHOULD be! And though my daughter and I have different taste, we both find the decor utterly charming. The breakfasts...

It's absolutely a perfect rating for people who love a cozy bed and breakfast with very friendly hosts. The food was delicious, they did everything imaginable to be hospitable (even a handwritten welcome note and chocolates), their gourmet breakfasts were a treat of a lifetime!!! We chose this place because of its high ratings and the hot tub. It wasn't...

Charles_and_Jill, Owners & Hosts at Kangaroo House B&B on Orcas Island at Kangaroo House Bed & Breakfast on Orcas Island, responded to this review

Hi Jennifer, Thank you for all the nice things you said about the house and the breakfasts. We’re glad you enjoyed those things. Our garden hot tub is open air and sits near & partially under a giant one hundred+ year old plum tree, and there is a little winding path under the lights in the garden to get there....

This was a last minute getaway for my husband and I. I chose the Kangaroo based on the wonderful reviews and I agree with all of them!! This place is truly a gem, in large part, because of the owners Charles & Jill. They are super genuine and kind. We stayed in the Nuthatch room, which was so adorable and...

I chose Kangaroo House B&B based on the excellent reviews on Trip Advisor. I was looking for a very quiet place to retreat over Christmas. I like the homey comfort and casual hosting of a B&B. The directions were very easy to follow and I found the place with no problems. Before I checked in, I wanted to confirm check...

Reposting because I had a major typo in the title of the original: I adore this B&B! Charles and Jill make amazing breakfasts and are willing to accommodate food preferences/allergies. The breakfasts were a homemade pastry, a hot dish (rosti, frittata), fruit, and excellent coffee. The dining room has beautiful natural light even in the winter. Since we were there...

Charles and Jill were perfects hosts- interesting and very accommodating. Breakfasts were always oh-so tasty and our room, Goldfinch, was comfortable and unique. The common area had an old world feel, the reading room with shelves of books and games and the lounge had a grand fireplace with kindling and split logs at the ready. It felt a club for...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
This historic Craftsman Bungalow was built as a vacation hotel by a stone mason in 1907. In a later incarnation, colorful resident and steamship captain, "Cap" Ferris brought a baby orphaned kangaroo to live with him and his family. The locals dubbed the sprawling lodge the "Kangaroo House" Since then it has become a B&B and is the longest continually operating bed & breakfast in the San Juan Islands. We have 5 Rooms/Suites, all with Private Bathrooms, King or Queen beds and some with additional beds and DVD players/movies, Free WiFi, Garden Hot Tub, and an exceptional, filling, breakfast made from scratch including wholesome, local fruits, meats, vegetables and herbs from Orcas Island's own farms and gardens. ... more   less
