Mt Gardiner Inn has the advantage of being a pleasant 5 minute walk over a pedestrian bridge to the heart of downtown Winthrop. During the walk on the first evening, we saw a flock of wild turkeys and many deer. The room itself had a...More
We will be leaving Winthrop, WA tomorrow morning. What a great find this inn was. The owner, Allison has been so helpful with her advice on food, shopping, and hiking trails. The Inn is very up to date and clean. We loved our stay.

The big question for the Methow Valley in May is whether or not the North Cascades Highway is open. You can get there when it's not open, but you have more options when it is open. There is a wsdot webpage that lists historic opening dates. I normally go in winter, but I have been there over Memorial Day weekends a couple times. The weather is typically warm and dry then.
