The park was so nice. The rooms at the resort had a double bed and a single bed. Rooms were small but spotless. Gorgeous views of the golf course and mountains could be seen from the windows. There was a dining room, gift shop, game...More
My partner and I enjoyed our stay for 2 nights. It was cold and rainy
but we enjoyed the shops downtown . The stone, gem, and wood artwork at the Merrywoods Artisan shop was beautiful and unique. Bill and Deb were welcoming and enjoyed sharing...More
I've been here a couple of times. I've stayed in cabins and the lodge. Like all WV state parks, the people are great and maintenance and upkeep is second to none. The rooms in the lodge are a time capsule. They are well maintained, but...More
What a wonderful state park with so many beautiful views and so many places to meet up with family, friends or throw a birthday party. Must see in my opinion it’s just far enough out to be utter peacefulness.
Very close to Washington metro area and loaded with nice surprises: multiple hiking trails from easy to moderate, from 3/4 mile to 8 or more miles if you combine trails. Trails are clearly blazed so its hard to get lost. On site cabins, lake, volleyball,...More

West Virginia is one of the most beautiful places to spend time through October and even early November. Prime autumn weather and leaf-watching is of course the second weekend in October when rooms/cabins must be booked a year ahead of time. Sometimes the weather stays relatively nice until the middle of November, however, I have alternately experienced rainy, gray miserably cold weather as early as the 20th of October in that region. If you hit a long pleasant autumn with the amber coloring of leaves lasting until early November you are fortunate, but this is entirely unpredictable in one of the cloudiest areas of the United States. Honestly, when I am lodging at Cacapon in the fall, rain or shine, I enjoy a nice warm fire in the fireplace and the wonderful meals at the Lodge dining room. Best to reserve a 2nd floor lodge room with a full unobstructed view.
