Been staying here on and off for the last 20 years. Pretty run down but inexpensive. Heating hard to control, musty, beds and pillows adequate but barely. Staff unmasked is a big minus these days. Shows a genuine lack of concern for their patrons. A motel of last resort but you can usually get a room on short notice.
There is nothing majorly wrong with this hotel except that staff is walking around unmasked during the Covid pandemic. And the room smells slightly like cigarettes. Otherwise it’s a typical motel, pretty noisy (right now, I can hear the people talking in the room above).
The room was nice and large. Lots of hot water and seemed clean. We decided to eat breakfast at the Sawmill Restaurant on site the first morning. NO waitresses or staff were wearing masks. Only a couple of patrons that walked in were wearing them. It is state law that the staff wear them and patrons too. I will NOT revisit the restaurant and it makes me wonder how much they care about the welfare of their guests.
We stayed for 1 night at this simple motel as it was the only thing available in Davis for the weekend to enjoy the fall foliage at its peak. It's very close to Blackwater Falls State Park. The age of the place shows outside and inside... it could use a major update! Our room was on the 2nd floor, with a queen bed that was super uncomfortable - leaning in the center - that could have been fixed with plywood under the mattress and a decent memory foam topper, so 2 people sleeping on the bed wouldn't be stuck in the middle! The quality of the pillows and bedspread were far from attractive or comfortable, unfortunately... Good thing that we brought our own pillows, sheets and coverlet, just because... covid precautions. The window in the room faces the hallway, not the outside. So, forget about opening your drapes for some natural light unless you want to give up any privacy... The bathroom shows its age but was clean and the saving grace was the water pressure in the shower - GREAT! Watch out so you don't burn yourself, because it's HOT! Overall, the room seemed fairly clean... just old furniture and stained upholstery on chairs. But at least it didn't stink as some other reviews noted. Like I said, you get what you paid for... Maybe I've watched too many episodes of "Hotel Impossible" ;-) Don't mean to be harsh, just factual. :(…
Stayed with my mom and 2 small kids. Great value at 60$ a night. Clean, friendly and cool AC and flat-screen TV everything we needed. Yes the decor looks early 1990s but that's not what mattered most. Close to blackwater falls and breakfast at The Sawmill restaurant inside the hotel was cheap, fast and good.
