We decided to stay at the lodge for our overnight stay and are glad we did. Accommodations are average but we knew that going in. You could tell there were more recent upgrades to the room with paint, TV, bed linens, and pillows but bathroom still has older, maybe original tile, tub, sink, and toilet. It was fine for one...

We stayed in a four bedroom that accommodates handicapped guests. Appliances could use an update - but it's a cut above most state parks. Some cabins offer small animal accommodations (for $50 the first night and $5/night thereafter), but not the disabled cabin. Apparently the disabled and the friends who join them are not supposed to have pets along with...

Thoroughly enjoyed our 2 nights' stay. Rooms adequate but in need of some TLC. During our stay the "central heating" must have been switched on which made the temperature in the room at night very, uncomfortably, hot. Reception recommended turning on the AC to counter act. Makes no "eco sense". Restaurant service and food were good, although menus rather pricey.

We decided to try the cabins for one night. They are two bedrooms on a common living room/kitchen arrangement with a fireplace. Each cabin has its own driveway. It looks like half the cabins are on one side of the valley and 1/2 are on the other side. If you want to use the fireplace, the wood was included with...

We paid $100 for one nite with two full beds and a wonderful view of trees and canyon. Very quiet. There is a restaurant on site called the Smoky Grill which is a bit pricey. The room is small but clean and adequate. The park is beautiful with trails, a petting zoo and, of course, the falls.

Old style accommodation, in need of refurbishment. Great location. Great view on canyon side otherwise you will be overlooking carpark. Restaurant closes at 8pm which is far too early as there is nothing to do afterwards. Breakfast not included and is average $10 each. Very thin walls you can hear everything. Luckily we didn't need AC as it was noisy...

Shame on you West Virginia. Blackwater falls is such a beautiful place that we enjoyed greatly. The lodge is located with a wonderful view but this older resort is poorly maintained. Wallpaper hanging loose, paint peeling, mold in bathroom corner are some of the reasons. I would like say our bed was very clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly...

Old lodge that has been maintained well. Rooms are clean, neat, and comfortable. Rates are reasonable. Lodge has good restaurant with good, affordable food. Breakfast buffet is good. Back of lodge has great view of Blackwater river canyon. Spent 2 beautiful, cool, evenings, sitting out back watching the sun go down over the mountains. Very big & spacious lodge.

When I reviewed the state park, I thought we had enough for two days of activities, but no way! There is basically one small waterfall and one small hike. The lake was small and gross. I booked the hotel as I thought it'd be good to get a view and watch the sunset and other ideas in the reviews. NOT!...

The views from the back of the lodge are fantastic. Great view of the gorge. The night sky was unbelievable. Easy access to hiking and a short drive to the falls. The rooms were a bit dated but very comfortable and clean. Staff was wonderful.A very relaxing place to stay. Restaurants in Davis and Thomas within a ten minute drive.
