We arranged for a late checkin last Thursday. We were warmly greeted by Jessie, efficiently checked in, and offered a snack or ice cream. Our room was clean, & everything worked. Bed was very comfortable. Off the highway so not as noisy. Definitely will try to stay here again.

We travel to Morgantown frequently to visit our WVU student. This was our first stay at this hotel. Upon arrival, front desk staff were super friendly. Breakfast staff also went out of their way to help, asking if we needed anything, etc. Breakfast array was surprisingly better than expected, though some items were not consistently available. Gym is very small: Two treadmills, two ellipticals, some free weights. Our room was clean. The mattress was on its last year of life; higher on the sides, lower in the middle. Unfortunately, the hotel seems a little run-down. Dated, cramped bathrooms with warped wallpaper, worn/discolored tubs, stained hallway carpet. There were signs posted in the room declaring covid precautions that stated sanitizing wipes would be placed in every room (nope), and that housekeeping would only service rooms every third day to minimize exposure. If hotel staff and guests were masked, this might be believable, but I think it's just a convenient excuse to lower service standards. We requested clean towels and that our single, very full trash be emptied on day two, but said that we would make our own bed. The front desk clerk gave us a stack of clean towels and two trash bags, instructing us to leave our full trash bag in the hall for housekeeping to pick up. So we made a pile of wet towels in the corner of the bathroom and changed our own trash bags. We have stayed in hotels four times since the pandemic began, and this was the only time we did not receive housekeeping service. My guess is that this hotel is struggling to find staff like so many other service businesses. Don't know what the solution is, but potential guests ought to know what they're in for. Location is right off interstate and close to downtown, in a run-down business district. There is no way around potholes in Morgantown, so that is the great equalizer. No matter where you stay or where you go, you will encounter numerous, massive potholes.

Dear VirginiaVille, Thank you for reaching out to us regarding your most recent stay. While we love our friendly staff as well, we further agree with you more about the mattresses, which is why there are 80 queen mattress sets and 40 king sets on their way for renovation. Unfortunately, we were scheduled for a full-scale renovation during March 2020. I do apologize for the errant Covid-19 precaution letter, as those were removed in bulk several months ago, and it appears one was left behind. We recognize that the pandemic response continually evolves. Unfortunately, as a business of so many fine details, clarification of such details is imperative. As a quick update, Marriott International has requested that we maintain wipes at the front desk to be available upon request. Also, it is important to note that masks are no longer required for vaccinated staff, per Marriott International protocols, and we were specifically requested by the brand to reduce housekeeping service intervals. Toward the end of this month, Marriott International will direct select service properties with standardized reduced in-house service intervals. While we have been profoundly fortunate to maintain our full staffing model throughout the pandemic, we will be further investigating notes pertaining to your front desk interaction. Housekeeping service is, and has been, available per guest request, and we do not expect our guests to remove their refuse unless they prefer we do not enter their room. Best wishes and safe travel, Jessie Best wishes, Jessie

My family and I stayed here for our daughters WVU visit. Room was fairly clean and smelled good. There were what appeared to be mold spots on the bathroom ceiling and wall. Reason for the 3 star rating was the bed. Very uncomfortable and somewhat "lumpy". Some TLC and we would consider staying here again. Otherwise next time we would probably choose somewhere else to stay. The breakfast was tasty and the desk staff was friendly.

Hi there james0919, Thank you so much for staying with us! I am happy to report that we have ordered 40 king beds/boxsprings and 80 queen beds/boxsprings for our renovation. Some of our guests may be familiar with our current double bed arrangement, but, in an effort to continually improve our guest stay experience, we are pushing all of our double beds to queen beds :-). We are refreshing the entire property, and look forward to hosting you in the future after our upgrades. The delicious breakfast and the glowing staff will remain a staple of our winning combination. Best wishes & safe travels~

Dear S5510YGcindys, Thank you so much for taking the time to share your stay experience with us. It has been a pleasure caring for our new and repeat guests over the years. During the pandemic, I can personally say that seeing familiar faces emerge after travelers began "roaming about the cabin" again was very emotional, and at times, inspiring. We appreciate your patronage, and hope to see you again when you return to Morgantown. Best wishes & safe travel~

My family of 5 has to stay in suite style hotels any time we travel. Springhill suites used to be my go-to. We've stayed at this particular location a couple of times before. Over the course of the last several years, this hotel has become increasingly dirty and dilapidated. My initial interaction with the front desk was great, but after that there was never anyone at the desk. The breakfast was minimal, and not what I would expect from a Springhill. The beds are small and hard. The sofa was dirty. The bathtub had worn paint, wouldn't drain. There was mold above the shower in the bathroom. It was just not a good experience. If you're looking for a place in Morgantown, look somewhere else.

Dear JHarvey3077, Thank you for reaching out regarding your most recent stay. Unfortunately, after delaying our renovation during the Covid-19 Pandemic, we have certain elements that are aging, oxidizing over time, and changing with use and exposure. I am pleased to share that we have started our renovation process, and we are starting with key elements that specifically affect our guests, such as the carpets, tubs, tile, wall coverings. After the renovation, if you would be interested in paying us a visit, we would be more than happy to host you and your family at a discounted rate as a result of your experience. One note I do want to share specifically pertains to breakfast. Marriott International decided to change the current breakfast requirements for all select service branded hotels. We deeply appreciate your feedback on the new breakfast standard and will happily report this to the appropriate corporate department. Best wishes and safe travel~

We stayed at a Residence Inn in Florida and the AC stopped working. On the way home to Canada we stayed in a Sleep Inn in Georgia that was cramped and had a really hard beds. The cheapest and best hotel was this Spring Hills Suite that we stopped in on December 30th. We had three in our party and it was a large room with two double beds and a large living room area with a desk and a large pullout sofa. The beds were extremely comfortable, which finally made for a good night's sleep, after two nights of terrible sleep. The front desk person was friendly and welcoming. Great value!

Just stayed here for Family Weekend at WVU. First room we were put in had stained carpeting and the bathroom shower was not clean - hair on the tile was visible, as well as shampoo/soap on tile. The box spring in bed was visibly tattered and worn. The tub also had yellow stains from wear. We were moved to a second room where the tub was black and worn - it wasn’t dirt, just old and stained. When I sent a note to the desk, they said they were behind in their renovations but it was clean. They offered to comp us Marriott points, but when I mentioned upon check out, they responded sorry but you should have asked for another room again. I shared the picture of the tub and the front desk clerk just shrugged. Will never go back here - far nicer properties to choose from. Very disappointed for a Marriott property.

The SpringHill Suites used to be our ‘Go Too’ hotel in Morgantown. I’m a realist and understand that employee’s in the Food and Hospitality industry are sparse these days. However, ripped up and badly stained carpets, torn furniture, sickly bathrooms and roaches will quickly chase you from your room. It’s time to tear down and rebuild. Certainly not even close to a Marriott brand property. The lone bright spot was the friendly and welcoming front desk employee, Gavin.

Dear smittywvu, Thank you for sharing your personal notes from your stay experience. I can absolutely appreciate that our property is in need of our renovation, which was originally scheduled during the peak of the pandemic. However, the implication of a pest control issue at this hotel is not an accurate account. As a matter of note, this hotel has regularly completed regular Marriott International inspections and maintained perfect scores on each. We're pleased that you enjoyed your interactions with Gavinn. He is an outstanding staff member. Regards,

If you're in Morgantown for a WVU football game, graduation, fall activities or just passing through, this hotel has it all at a great price! The location is only 5 highway minutes from Puskar field and the coliseum. It's right behind a Sheetz, Arbys, Dunkin, Burger King and KFC. It's a stones throw to a huge shopping area including Walmart, Sam's Club and a Giant Eagle. There's plenty of free parking and an awesome pool! The rooms are all suites with a sink, baby fridge, work area, huge bathroom, separate sink area and we had a huge bed for the grandkids to jump on. To come down the elevator and smell bacon cooking from their complimentary breakfast was heaven! Give them a try and you won't be disappointed.
