Wonderful motel, very quiet and relaxing. Well-kept and pet friendly. Has both an indoor and outdoor pool and a very nice indoor hot tub. We pulled in later than expected, tired and hungry. The gal in the office helped us by showing us the vending area where we could buy a pizza and told us about some of the restaurants and things to do in the area. She went out of her way to make us feel welcome. This motel is convenient for a base while seeing the area. We will be back!

I stayed in room 219 overnight August 31, 2021. The room was super clean, quiet and great AC. And in addition, spacious with plates and silverware, microwave that could be used if I brought in food Plus a nice pool--just the right size! And the price was RIGHT! Couldn't ask for a better deal. Will definitely return there next summer!

Our “Go To Place” in Door County! If you care about SERVICE, CLEANLINESS, LOCATION and VALUE this is your place. We love the spacious suites and the indoor and outdoor pools. We keep coming back and are already planning our next visit. We love fall with the fireplaces in the hotel and our suite. Great Door County Coffee in the office area and right next door to a cute place for breakfast ( The Summer Kitchen) Thanks to the wonderful staff for your hospitality!

I have a mixed review. The pool areas were very nice, hallways were narrow, second floor has only stairs, and the rooms were basically clean, but I had an unpleasant stay because of my sinuses. I am allergic to dust and mold, and the air quality in my room was poor. The hotel is old and I'm not sure what the source was, but I believe it was the carpets. Not vacuumed enough? Not cleaned enough? Dampness of air in general affected padding under carpets? We were there in peak season and all hotels were booked, so could not easily get new room. I left the sliding door open as much as possible. Spare pillows on an open shelf were definitely dusty, so they are not cleaning and washing rarely used items. Other guests were not complaining, so it was maybe my particular sinus sensitivities. I shall avoid all old hotels in the future.

Dark, musty, dingy. The room had old, thick brown carpet. The odor in the room was overpowering, seemingly some kind of cleaning product or air freshener. If you are sensitive to cleaning products, you will be miserable. There was dust and cobwebs in the corners and behind the entry door. The bathroom was clean. Felt like it hasn’t been updated in a long time. Didn’t get to use the pool, as check in was 3, and they don’t allow use of pool til you are checked in. There is a cute mini golf right across the street. Front desk person acted like she was doing us a favor. Tiny little queen bed with old bedding.

Response from Angie Meacham, Owner at Somerset Inn & Suites

Thank you for staying with us. You are correct, we do prefer to let our guests that are currently checked into the hotel use the pool areas and we're sorry we were unable to accommodate your request for a check in at 10:30am during our peak summer season. Unfortunately the guests in your room were not yet checked out as check out time is 11:00am. Since it was very clear you wanted to check in early, we hustled our housekeeping crew to flip the room and that's probably the reason for the cleaning product smell, we had JUST finished cleaning your room. I was unable to perform my usual inspection of the room where I make sure the AC is set properly (especially important on summer days with a very high dew point). As you can see from previous guest reviews, we take great pride in our family owned and operated business and strive to always offer a room that is clean and comfortable with top notlch customer care.
