Family trip two weeks 8th to 22nd of August. 3 people in the first, 4 p. in the second week. Dolce Vita Apartment, 1900€ per week, accommodation only. Cala Alcaufar is a very very nice place, not too many tourists, you’re only 50m from the water, and you have a beautiful view. We took the “more luxury apartment” (Dolce Vita Apartment) and hoped to find the kind of apartment seen on the Internet site (photo gallery). The good points: Everything is clean, staff is very friendly, pool area is nice, The view from the balcony is stunning, The restaurant of the hotel is okay with a view on the bay (but the food is much too expensive for what it is). Towels are changed whenever you want it. The bad points: No decoration inside of the apartment, it’s like a clean white sterile thing. The second sleeping room is very very tiny, there is no cupboard for storage inside the bedroom or in the main room, just two drawers underneath the bed. The mattresses are very hard and extremely uncomfortable. The curtains are just a little bit too small to cover the whole window…. The kitchen is very poorly equipped. Four glasses, two wine glasses, 5 cups, no coffee machine (just a small Bialetti which would work for two people), no bowls. Nearly impossible to cook even a basic meal like pasta with sauce, salad and a dessert for four people. The balcony is very long but narrow , it’s quite difficult to sit on it and have a breakfast with 4 chairs. We were told that there would be cleaning every five days, but after a whole week we had to ask for the first cleaning, and they didn’t come a second time. Internet is existing but hard to use, very unstable, don’t expect to watch a film or work for an hour without being cut off 10 times…. Without Internet Wi-Fi you are on 3G on the balcony… For the price we paid we expected a more luxury apartment, better equipped and furniture in a better shape. We feel quite fooled, the price is largely overpriced, even for a high season period.

Arrived yesterday having stayed on half board in 2019. They’re obviously on different Covid catering at the moment, no half board and I’m hungrily awaiting to see what happens for breakfast, but other than that its as beautiful, spotless and friendly as before. Tui cancelled on as so we’ve come independently. The setting is stunning.

Worst manager and rooms i have seen and been to in a long time! Avoid at any cost! The room we stayed in didnt have shampoo just 1 soap for the room and for the 2 day stay. We did not have hot water during our entire stay. The room we stayed in did not have aircon, breakfast starts only a 9am and they had nothing to offer except from their « pan con tomate ». When stayed with a 1 year old kid and nothing before 9am was available. Is this a joke?! Great service. Their answer was, « sorry we dont have anything to offer its our first day. » So basically you pay 220 euros per night for a room with no hot water, bearly any breakfast, no breakfast before 9am, no aircon and no shampoo. The day of our checkout we asked if we could keep 1 room until 3pm because our daughter was doing a nap until then. They said we had to pay an extra half day for this. Again we were surprised but didnt say anything. Nothing was offered not even an appology for the cold water in the bathroom. Two days later while we checked out of the hotel, the manager contacts us and tell us we have to pay 1 more room that has not been paid. So we had 3 room we stayed 2 night in each room. We paid everything we got the receipt…so we were surprised and quite annoyed. We went there and they said there is an extra for sea view room (so different story than initially told to us) and we said you cannot ask us for an extra after the room has been paid for and not mentionning us from the start that there was an extra. The manager got angry at us and said we would never be welcome again in his hotel or his restaurant. He got so angry that it almost got physical. We decided to leave before it would get worse. Anyway just avaoid this place at ALL COST peaople owning/« managing » this hotel should deserve to close down. Cala Alcaufar is one of the nicest location in Menorca and a hotel like this should not exist! Hope they will loose their customers and get serious financial problems. At least i warned you about it.

Although rated 2 stars, I guess because it doesn't have air con in the rooms; yet it was immaculately clean. Staff were friendly and efficient. Food in the hotel's restaurant was simple but we'll cooked and quite delicious. Al a carte restaurant available had most amazing aray of fresh fish. The hotel was in the most beautiful location...... would highly recommend

Our first visit to this small, clean friendly hotel was a delight . Very friendly staff , good quality food but could do with labels on the Buffett so we know what we are eating !? . The room we had,106, was spotless ,cleaned inside and outside everyday , had fun with the shower head which kept coming out of its bracket like a headless snake. As for the other guest that were staying this last week ,I would like to thank you ALL for your company ,it made for a great week .Would I go back , not at full price but would look out for deals it is only 2 star , and the bar and restaurant prices have to be paid for at the time comes as a bit of a shock ,nothing can be added to your room. So all in all a very nice small hotel that does exactly what it says.

We found the rooms dated, (seen better rooms in Blackpools B&B,, the good reviews are obviously from customers who have been before and noticed how friendly they're with repeat customers, we ate out most times as the food was not up to standards dry chips every evening, also saw one waiter drop a spoon and put back in the tray. One of the customers thought he owned the place loud cockney bloke bragging about whine and where he has been, the staff couldn't do there job for him chatting to them all the time, they've even reserved tables for their friends. Evening the hotels family having a fiesta until midnight noisy ect, feel for those getting some sleep in the see view rooms. Breakfast starts at 8.30 and first bus to Mahon is at 8.45, not much time for breakfast. If your're under the age of 60 its not for you.

By sharing your experiences, you're helping travellers make better choices and plan their dream trips. Thank you! Spent a week at this lovely family run hotel, on the beach. My 4th year here and I love it! The staff (many of them remembered me from early visits) are wonderful. The rooms are basic but spotlessly clean. The food is plentiful. The local walks and beaches are unspoilt and perfect for late autumn holidays. Will be going back!

Just got back from a wonderful week at the Xuroy Hotel. It was just has I had imagined and exactly like the photographs. Ideal spot right on the beach, was so peaceful and beautiful to look at each day. Swimming in the sea was so lovely (especially at 8am when we had the beach to ourselves). I was surprised at the number of people who had stayed in the hotel before, many more than I had imagined. However, I can see why. it is the perfect getaway hotel. Yes, there are no frills, but who needs them. Meals are lovely, staff are terrific, setting is perfect, quiet residential/beach location, bus stop around the corner. Yes, take your own kettle/cups and hairdryer, but otherwise just relax and enjoy this beautiful place. We found it really easy to catch the bus to Mahon and onward. Two main cities are both breathtaking and definitely worth a visit. We also went on a TUI organised trip to various places, which we enjoyed as well, together with the information supplied. We would recommend going to the horse and trap racing track not far away. Betting is limited to 1.50 euro bets, so you can't go mad. there are only five races and the horses/racing is up close. Easy to place the bets, good mixture of British and Spanish there. We hadn't been to Menorca before and would recommend the island to couples and older people. Like the hotel, it is not really for younger people or kids, as there is not much going on. However, they have some of the most fantastic beaches I have seen in a long time and beautiful old buildings and history around the island.

Fortunately I fall into the former category, often having the pleasure of reuniting with people I have met there in previous years. I returned here after an enforced absence of five years. Oh how it has changed, mainly pricewise (Happy Hour has been abolished too).Basic information. Spotlessly clean, with towels changed daily. This is two star hotel/hostal as they call it, so don't expect air conditioning, 'fridge, TV in the room or any of the niceties associated with a higher rated establishment. There is a small safe ( in the wardrobe). There is a key, for which you pay a deposit AND a fee. Doesn't really make sense: the safe Is there, why charge for it? A returnable deposit, yes. But a fee!!!Xuroy does what it says on the tin - small and friendly. I take a travel hair dryer but have yet to use it in all the years I have been staying here, drying my hair in the sun. If you like your early morning cup of tea, take a travel kettle (don't forget an adaptor) and a cup (they won't lend you crockery) - breakfast isn't served until 08.30. Dinner from 20.00 but if that's too late for some, there is another restaurant five minutes walk away. Rooms: number 6 is the worst. Semi ground floor, dark and claustrophobic. It is spacious and suitable for those with disabilities as it has a large wetroom with all the necessary hand rails. Its redeeming feature is, it's very quiet. In fact all the ground floor rooms facing the front are, although perfectly acceptable inside, are dreary on the outside.Number 111 is the noisiest, being on the first floor right above the entrances to the reception area and the dining room. On the left is the car park. Also, it doesn't get much sun.Room 208 is, I think, the best room in Xuroy. Top floor with a large balcony which receives light from sunrise to sunset.Rooms with the spectacular sea view come with a premium, a heavy one (50 euros a NIGHT( which really bumps up the cost of the holiday). You have probably read many reviews, some of which criticise the waiting staff. If you are polite to them, they respond in the same manner. I've never had a problem.Read all the reviews, then judge for yourselves, and I hope my opinion helps a little.
