This is a great stay. Do not hesitate, for travelers or tourists, to book here. It is a little out of the way which is a good alternative to Dells tourist traffic in the warmer months. All necessary retail amenities within walking distance-let alone driving distance. Rooms are nice.
Upon checking in the motel, there was a foul mouthed jerk running his mouth off with the front desk agent. I knew I made a mistake right then and there. I wasn’t asked for my credit card info even though I wanted to use a different card than what I had reserved the room with. No elevators. I’m exhausted and the last thing I wanted to do was go up the steps. Plus the main reason I chose this location is because they said they had a guest laundry. So I had two suitcases to drag upstairs as one had this week’s dirty clothes. The room was set up weird with the sink right at the front door when you come in. Skimpy on the towels and the bath towels are very small. No easy access to an electrical outlet at the desk. So again, exhausted, I have to crawl under the table to plug in my laptop. There are lamps in other areas of the room with electrical outlets, but not at the desk. Had issues connecting to the wifi because the first letter of the password is NOT capitalized even though that was how it was written. Internet is very slow and it was difficult to get any work done since pages would take so long to load. Kept losing the wifi on my phone through the entire stay. The area where the luggage rack is was too small for my small suitcase. I had to balance it on the safe that was right inside the door. And something I find creepy yet interesting is there are two holes in the wall behind the tv and Q tips are sticking out of them. Not sure if this is on purpose or if a previous guest was trying to be funny and the housekeeper didn’t notice. Disturbing either way. I gather up my dirty laundry in a large duffel bag, drag it down the hall and down the stairs only to find that the payment system does not work. It only accepts credit cards. No cash/coins. And the payment system says there is no connection. Which means you can’t pay and you can’t do laundry. Again, this is the main reason I chose this place. Was there a sign stating that the laundry machines weren’t working? Nope. Had I seen a sign, I would not have dragged my laundry downstairs for nothing. I am so angry at this point and I have only been there an hour and a half. Ended up doing my laundry down the street the next day at a decent laundromat. Don't get me started on the place being dog friendly. I would prefer staying at places that are pet free. But thankfully did not see any dogs until checking out (not on a leash of course) and did not see evidence of any being in my room. There are some good points. AC works, is quiet and is adjustable. The mini fridge is actually twice as big as the other fridges I’ve had in other rooms. Also has a freezer area. The shower is ok. Pressure could be better, but it stayed hot. And it had a non slip tub which was nice. Slept well and had no issues with noise. KFC is right next door. Went there for dinner. They were polite and service was fast.…
If you are selling the best value and the best people in the Portage area, look no further. The Super 8 has all this and more. Immaculate rooms and a generous breakfast are also in the offing. Room was outstandingly quiet despite a busy highway nearby and a fully booked hotel. Carpeting was brand new. Everything is incredibly clean. I had an issue with payment through an online booking website and Duan at the front desk had it straightened out in short order. She wouldn’t take no for an answer and had my booking fixed in under 5 minutes. Kudos to her and the entire staff at the Super 8.
Not a big fan of the Super 8 chain hotels/motels but this one was one of the better ones. No complaints during our one night stay, check in was easy and we were able to do it early. No funky smells in the room or the linens (towels/sheets) which was very important to us. Easy to find, location was close to a lot of options for food and grocery. The only reason why I took out one star was because we had to clean up the coffee machine which looked like it hasn't been used or cleaned for a while. Maybe people just didn't use it but we cleaned ours without any problems. Will stay here again since it was so close to the ski resort. Hopefully they will be able to keep up the cleanliness of the place. Thank you!
Nice and clean. Price was a deal. We felt very happy with the appearance. Breakfast hours are good. Basic breakfast choices of hot waffles and sausages, Instant oatmeal made with hot water, cold hard boiled eggs, Apple and orange juice , raisin bran and corn flakes cold cereals. Packaged cinnamon rolls were great.. plain bagels offered. Could use tomato juice and a healthy Cereal choice.
