My friend and I were refused entry at Chinook Winds Motel in Dubois, WY on September 27, 2021 because the motel discriminated against a disabled veteran with a service dog, despite being informed it was illegal. Throughout the entire interaction, the motel desk woman was very hostile and aggressive. We were checking in and all was going smoothly, until my friend mentioned that she had a service dog. The motel desk woman immediately said "no, that no dogs were allowed." My friend explained that she has a certified service dog, and that she wasn't a pet. The motel woman said that it didn't matter, and that no dogs are allowed, including service dogs. Despite offering to show her the service dog papers multiple times, the woman refused and said it wouldn't matter. The woman threatened multiple times that if we brought the service dog into the room there would be a $200 fine. My friend told her that she is a disabled veteran with a service dog, and that there is a Federal law that dictates that service dogs are protected and therefore exempt from the "no pet" rules. The woman said she didn't care, that she owned the place, and would not allow any dogs inside. She said we could still use the room, but the service dog would have to stay in the car. She refused to let us enter the hotel with my friend's service dog. At that point, it was 11pm at night and we were two exhausted women, alone in an unfamiliar small Wyoming town in the middle of nowhere, with no other place to stay. Both of us are disabled, and I am pregnant, yet that woman refused to honor the reservation or to let us stay the night.…
This place was a delight to stay in for a night with all the natural wood furnishings and even the walls. I loved the Screen Door. Reminded me of my childhood. The bed was very comfortable. The place was very clean. The place even checked on our arrival as we were running late. No hassle stay. Just passing through.
A cute homey place to stay. Desk staff and owners were friendly. The motel is on the Wind River and we were able to walk down to sit next to it. . There is a place for kids to play and a fire pit to sit around. The room was clean and spacious with a microwave and fridge. Bathroom was small.
Old fashioned drive-up-to-your-door motel. Rustic cabin look right on the Wind River. Rooms are comfortable and spacious. Feee Wifi, fridge, microwave, and Dish Network TV. Very comfortable and reasonably priced. Loved it!
We stayed here for a few nites in a cabin and had a good stay. Easy walk to downtown and super friendly and welcoming staff. Also pretty quiet place for being on the main road through town. I would tell you the shower stall in our cabin was not very big - you’d have a tough time moving around in it if your over 6 foot tall and weigh over 200 . The mattresses in our cabin were saggy and like a taco in the center. They are just old. These last comments are just an FYI as it’s a wonderful and charming place to stay.
