A dude ranch was on our bucket list. We planned to go in 2020 to celebrate our 35th anniversary. Well Covid changed those plans. We went in June of 2021. We discovered we were the only guests that had not either been to CM ranch in the past or had owned their own horses. I feared we would not fit in very well. My fears were unfounded. I can’t express how much the staff and the other guests made us feel at home. We stayed in the garden cabin. Everyone said it was a favorite. We will definitely request garden when we return. The sound of the river is so calming. The daily rides put a strain on our bodies, but we were always ready to get back in the saddle the next day. We could pick our ride each day. They have one all day ride where you get off the ranch and bring a bag lunch. We asked for and received a “short” all day ride. The ride to the trail head was wonderful. I have hoped to go to a dude ranch vacation most of my life. I was worried no place could meet the expectations that I built up in my mind. The CM ranch came through on all levels. It was a trip of a lifetime that I hope to repeat many times.

The CM Ranch IS something special! It feels less like a generic guest ranch and more like a ‘Family’ Ranch. Hunter and Mollie, Ranch Managers, set the tone for a very comfortable and personalized immersion into the Wyoming West. This feeling is echoed throughout from the Wranglers, Dining Hall Personnel, to the returning guests (many who have come back for their 4th/12th/20th year). The horses ... are all very healthy, wonderfully tempered, and responsive. Our group felt our horses were VERY well matched to each of us based on our responses to a pre-riding questionnaire from CM. The head Wrangler, Frankie, would come by each day to ask what rides we wished to go on the next day – extremely personalized for every riders level of skill. All the trails were very different and interesting. Loping/trotting over open terrain, zig-zagging over streams, or breathtaking trails scaling the sides of mountains. You have the flexibility to challenge yourself as much or as little as you are comfortable with. The food ... always very good and plentiful. Breakfasts were made to order omelets/pancakes/breakfast sandwiches (always with crispy bacon!). Dinners were salmon, bison tenderloin, prime rib, chicken with all the trimmings. I loved that it was byob – made it so much easier to have my favorite wine with dinners! The Accommodations ... Three couples stayed in Baker House. It was perfect for us. Beds were comfortable with quality linens. Clean cabin with a great sitting area out back next to a stream (with a fire pit!). The house is located about a 10 minute walk from the dining/riding areas, but that worked for us as the walk was beautiful! And on some evenings, the horses were let out in the pasture in the back yard – super cool! With two rides a day, our riding skills greatly improved. The Wranglers are very helpful offering suggestions and answering questions to help to increase your skills and knowledge of horses. Hunter and Mollie went above and beyond to help us with several challenges we had during the week, offering a level of personalization that is rare in a guest vacation environment. The activities and relaxed ‘family’ atmosphere foster interaction between everyone (guests and staff!). We left having made lots of friends. ... Bubba, the chef, even taught me how to actually ‘air flip’ an omelet!

Viewing photos on their website is great, and reading positive reviews is helpful, but you really need to experience a week at CM Ranch to understand and feel the special nature of this spectacular ranch. Every key ingredient of a great ranch - horse program, staff, terrific scenery and location, adventure in a safe environment, accommodations and food (!!!) - all have to be rated as exceptional at CM. Mollie and Hunter manage the ranch and they provide the perfect combination of friendliness and professionalism. They take time to make every guest feel at home. Their positive attitude is contagious and it can be seen in the pride and energy throughout their entire staff. Having visited many ranches over the past years, I can honestly say that CM Ranch ranks as second to none. I would highly recommend CM to friends and family and anyone searching for the best total guest ranch experience.

My boyfriend & I did a week's stay back in August and basically haven't stopped talking about it since. We can't wait to plan our next trip back to this beautiful ranch and many more in the future. I would recommend the CM for a solo trip, couples trip, and for families. It is so easy to customize exactly what your stay will be like and it can be made to fit what you're looking for. A family reunion trip was going on alongside our stay and it definitely inspired us to want to bring our whole family back! From the minute you pull up, the CM feels like home only with better food on the table and some pretty amazing company. Neither of us are experienced riders, but Sam and the other wranglers made us feel at ease (not to mention our horses were great!). We enjoyed rides both together & separately. There are also so many other things to do and see around the ranch. We enjoyed a wonderful hike with Peggy, time in the pool, and even just relaxing on our porch. It really is such a special place!

We just got back from our ADULT WEEK vacation at the CM and it was an unforgettable experience. The horses and the landscape are spectacular! The food was delicious, the accommodations charming and the people were great. It was so refreshing to get away from all the hustle and bustle and go back to the basics. Thank you Mollie and Hunter, Sam & Staff for making this place so very special. We loved it and will definitely be back.
