Terrible motel... very poorly maintained and housekeeping leaves much to be desired. Booked a kitchenette room for a week, we had two gas leaks in our room, no bottom sheet on bed, fridge froze all our food, hot water heater quit. Requested another room and moved to a two queen non-kitchenette room which had a garbage bag stapled over door where glass should've been, then heater quit. Discussed these issues with owner and requested a discounted rate which he agreed to. He then billed us more than was agreed and when we refused to pay extra we were asked to leave, accused of trespassing and the sheriff was called. I have never had a worse interaction with a motel... and I have travelled extensively. I would recommend ANY other motel than this one in Dubois!

I booked a hotel through hotels.com. It was non-refundable. We got to the hotel during business hours and the office had signs saying it was open. It was locked! I called and no one answered. I actually called an left a message with another hotel to book and they got back to me after I had booked here. They actually told me people have been having problems with this hotel. DO NOT book with them!!

Prior to COVID, I booked a neighboring property through a third-party site. When things began closing down, I booked Branding Iron as a replacement because they had free cancellation through the third-party site. As it turns out, I was able to get back into the neighboring property and was able to cancel with Branding Iron. Easy fix, right? I never stayed there, they had an agreement with the third-party website, and I never got charged, right? Absolutely wrong. Through multiple efforts to get my money back I've had emails ignored and phone calls unanswered. Even with the major third-party website tried contacting them, they first did not answer then denied my refund. This is very troubling. I never gave Branding Iron my information - it was all through the other website - and yet they charged me and broke their end of the contract.

Where do I even begin? We pulled in at about 8:30 in the evening and when I went to check in I found that the Inn had not received my reservation, and they could not find my reservation, so instead of the king bed I requested I got a queen. The person behind the desk was eating a bowl of cereal and asked if it was OK if he ate and checked me in at the same time! I paid with cash, and shame on me, I didn't get a receipt. Our shower had obviously not been cleaned because a used and broken bar of soap was in the bottom of the shower. There were no coffee cups in the room and I never could get ahold of a person at the front desk. The yard and grounds were overgrown and obviously the owners have lost heart in the business. Several days after I got home I discovered my debit card had been charged for my stay. I started calling the Inn to try to have the charges reversed and no one ever answered the phone. I tried for over 2 weeks and always got the answering machine. I left several messages. No one returned my call. I finally emailed. Someone did respond to my email and asked for clarification on the charges. I responded with a picture of the charge on my bank account. I have not heard a word since and last time I tried to call the answering machine was full. I had to have my bank dispute the charges to get my money back. Do not stay at this place under any circumstances!

Even though Robert, the owner, and his friend Kim, who answers the phone - told me not to worry about changing my reservation for July 8, 2020 to July 9, 2021, they did not honor that. Kim told me "not to worry" - it would be taken care of, for two months. Because of Covid our Yellowstone reservations were cancelled so there was no way for us to go to DuBois from Colorado for one night and then return home. Why Kim and Robert led me on for two months, I don't know! Today I found out that they would not honor the reservation change. So disappointing that people would treat others this way!!!!
