Being at Carole and Dexter's Ranch was wonderful. I can't say enough about the beautiful view, the ranch land, horses, the mountains in the distance. They treated us like family. Shared stories with of of how and when they built their place. A lovely log home! The day we arrived we brought in dinner and sat around the the dinning room table to eat. They made us feel so at home. Carole cooked us a great breakfast the next morning. We would have loved to stay longer.
First, Dexter and Carole are incredibly nice as the couple owning the place. Second, the MOST interesting place BY FAR I have ever stayed but I don't stay at a lot of B&Bs to be fair. Anyway, Dexter BUILT the log cabin I stayed in and it was interesting just to look at the construction/features....heavy wooden bolt doors with wedge locks, the stone chimney that has one side in the den and the other side at the front of the bed. There is a complete kitchen with refrigerator, utensils, electric grill, etc. The bathtub was excellent with shampoo and lotion supplied. The log cabin was huge with 2 large rooms + the bathroom. The bed was perfect except it was high off the floor. Shorter people may need a step stool to crawl into bed. :-) Breakfast was AWESOME with on my visit, eggs, bacon, toast with cranapple jelly, fresh peaches, and apple juice because I don't care for coffee . Since my last stay 5 years ago, they added Webflix and Roygu to the television choices which used to be just 3 channels from SLC. Overall however, this place is a MUST stay as far as the cabin goes anyway. They have other rooms so I can't review those obviously. BTW, the place is reached via a 2.5 mile paved road off of 191 1 mile south of Pinedale and then maybe a .25 mile drive up a grinded down gravel road. They had modestly raised the price from $45 to $55 in the 5 years since I last stayed there. You want a quiet stay out in the country...THIS IS IT!…
Very gracious host and hostess, comfortable accommodations, nicely decorated, beautiful quiet country setting, great breakfast. If you want to meet a guy that can give you a real education on western traditions, Dexter knows horses and the ranch life like few others. Our dog was welcomed, we felt right at home.
Pole Creek Ranch was a charming and relaxing place to stay. The place was well appointed with all the amenities expected. The owners Dexter and Carole were great hosts and had hours of stories to tell and share at the breakfast table which made the stay with them quite memorable.
Quiet, unspoilt , rustic B & B Superb hosts, with a vast knowledge of the area. The highlight for me was the magnificent breakfasts served in the family kitchen. Great place for children as it is a working ranch.
