We will be staying at Puakea in March for our anniversary in March, but we have been trying to stay there each March for the last three years. I had read about the Ranch in the Big Island newspaper, and when we saw a stay as an auction item for Hawaiian Islands Land Trust we bought it outright!! Unfortunately for...

As empty nesters, we had been looking for a special place to take our grown kids for a family vacation. We had stayed at the Kona Village resort for many years and loved the "old Hawaii" feel. When it was destroyed in the tsunami a few years ago we were afraid we would never find another place in Hawaii that...

We had such a lovely time staying in the James Cottage at Puakea Ranch. What a special place, we didn't want to leave. The cottage was very comfortable, sparkling clean, and had nice crisp white sheets. The property is gorgeous, peaceful and relaxing. Every morning we had our breakfast of fresh papaya picked from the nearby trees and farm fresh...

My family and I had the most amazing time at Puakea Ranch! The cottages where very clean and had first rate finishes. The grounds where well groomed, but not overly manicured, with many paths to explore. We especially loved the garden from which we picked for our nightly dinners from. My toddler son enjoyed the play room with many toys...

You simply haven't lived until you've stayed at Puakea Ranch. We had the pleasure to stay in Yoshi's House and Miles Away cottages, both appointed with private swimming pools and bathhouses. Quiet, comfortable and secluded, Yoshi's house offers lanai-style living, easy kitchen, a full bath indoors and full bath house. We could have stayed forever! Located near Hawi Town on...

We rented the Cowboy House for 3 nights recently. It's wonderful to stay in a place so full of history and restored to reflect its historic background but with all the modern touches. It takes a while to settle into such peaceful surroundings after arriving from a big resort but we all loved it right away. The location is perfect. Hawi...

We have been home a week now and the memories of staying at Puakea are sustaining us. We were so fortunate to stay at this ranch. For a short time, we were a part of the community. Hawi and Kapa’au are so laid back with wonderful people, and we received quite warm welcomes when we mentioned we were guests as...

My husband and I visited Puakea Ranch in July 2013 and enjoyed our cottage, but one aspect of the trip still bothers me two years later. On the last night of our stay, I was using the hair dryer that THEY provided and it blew the circuit for the bathroom (the lights and the hairdryer were the only things on...

I was so surprised to read this review today, from a guest who says they stayed with us over two year ago but decided to post a negative report on something we have no control over. (circut blowing) The Puakea Ranch host lives on the ranch just a short walk from all the cottages. Typically our host can be found...

I read about Puakea Ranch in Sunset magazine years ago and have now visited twice with a third reservation this Fall. My first visit I stayed in Cowboy House. Very charming. My second visit I stayed in Miles Away. Also very charming. Puakea is a special place and should not be be compared to a luxury resort. It's on a...

We stayed with the family (10 People) at the Puakea Ranch in June 2015. We were greeted warmly by a herd of horses and eventually the caretaker. It is a very quiet and peaceful place. We stayed in two houses on the ranch, Cowboy House and Yoshi House. Both houses were very clean and comfortable. I highly recommend the shower...
