My high school graduate granddaughter and I thoroughly enjoyed staying at Aaron's for 11 nights. Robert, the owner, was quick to respond to any questions or concerns we had prior to arrival. When we didn't know how to operate the AC, manager Brian responded within minutes even though it was almost 10 PM. The cottage was clean and comfortable, and the grounds were well-maintained with beach access only five minutes away. The room had its own fridge, toaster, microwave, and coffee maker; and breakfast foods were available in the shared kitchen. We couldn't have been more pleased with our accommodations or the quality of service we received.

We stayed at Aaron’s Cottage for three nights in room 8. This room shares walls on both sides. The walls don’t block out much noise, but he other guests were quiet enough so it wasn’t a big problem. The room was clean except for the floor. I did not want to walk around barefoot. It was not hot during our stay, but the room was exceptionally humid all the time. Everything in the room was wet continuously. It didn’t matter whether the windows were open or closed and the ceiling fan was always on. I couldn’t wait to go home to dry out. A dehumidifier would have been a tremendous help. I probably won’t stay here again for that one reason. Humid outdoors is one thing, but indoors should be comfortably dry.

The location of Aaron’s Cottage worked out well for us. It is very close to a tiny hidden beach and close enough to the rest of Hilo, but you’ll need a car. The drive to Volcanoes National Park is less than an hour.

The backyard was nice with lots of trees and places to sit. The shared kitchen could be helpful, but we didn’t use it. There’s a coffee maker in the room with some coffee, which is appreciated. There’s also a mini fridge in the room.

Communication was great! Check-in was simple and the door code was sent via text. WiFi is very weak and drops often.

Aaron's cottage was comfortable, clean and a lovely place to stay with my family. The owner responded to all of my requests and was easy to get in touch with. The area was quiet and walking distance to 2 beaches. I would highly recommend these cottages.

We were very happy with the location. Close to swimming lagoon with locals picnicking made us feel like we were in the real Hawaii. the family cottage had lots of room, a state of the art kitchen, washing machine and dryer, comfortable beds and good linen. You need a car but this adds to the experience. So much nicer to be in a house on its own green block than a resort.Aircon and fans made the temperature great for sleeping. Good base to explore the volcanic area.

Alan met us outside after we got in late to let us know the best place to park. He was very friendly and attentive. The cottage we stayed in was very clean and comfortable. We only stayed overnight but it was very quiet for being so close to the airport. It is also very close to the beach access path.

We stayed here for 2 nights and enjoyed the well equipped cabin with a large bed, bath, incl roku TV.

The shared kitchen was perfect to make fresh breakfast. The second morning we even had sun to sit outside!

Allan is very friendly! He recommended the secret beach, which is a gem although we didnt see the turtles (maybe due to Hurricane Lane impacted still high surf).

They guy running the properties (Alan?) was very friendly. The room itself has certainly seen better days. It has everything you need but was well worn and the curtains haven't been washed in a long time with mould on the back.

You can grab breakfast in the shared kitchen, had some fruit and cereal and the wifi is free and good.

I think the price reflects the quality as it is on the cheaper side of things in Hawaii (eveything is expensive)! You get what you pay for.

It is a very short drive to Hilo and the airport. Would consider again if in the area.

I was relieved when we found out we were staying in the renovated rooms which did not disappoint. Huge, clean, and comfortable - very nicely done. The shower without walls does make for slippery floors (bathroom and bedroom) - but not a deal breaker. Breakfast was good, and the friendly owner gave us a great recommendation for dinner which was Ken's Pancake House down the street (tasty, convenient, economical). We also loved the 'secret beach' which was a minute down the street with great views of the volcano. The owner Alan also gave us directions to another little public beach where my husband was able to swim with a sea turtle (so cool!). Great value, location, and overall experience!

There are actually 2 buildings with rooms, so I was a bit confused looking for my room in one building, when it was actually in the other. Luckily Alan, the manager, noticed me looking around and directed me to the correct room. We stayed 4 nights in Room 1, which was recently remodeled and clean and cozy. There is an easy self check-in process. The attached bathroom has a tiled floor and shower head but it's open to the entire bathroom, so some overspray ends up covering most of the floor. It creates a nice open feeling, but it would be great if the owner could provide a squeegee to clean up the floor after your shower so you don't track water into the bedroom. The bedroom has a queen size bed, ceiling fan with light, 2 stools, a narrow table, a trunk at the end of the bed with storage and padded seating and 2 night stands and lamps. There is a small air conditioner mounted into the wall. The owner asks that the A/C be turned on only when you are in the room and that was fine with us. The room cools off in about 15-20 minutes. There was also a mini-fridge in our room which was very convenient and kept our items nice and cold. There is a small closet area above the fridge with hangers on a rod and a shelf. The room came with its own coffee maker, hair dryer and iron. Soap and shampoo were not provided. Our room was attached to the shared kitchen, as is Room number 2. Alan stocks the kitchen with breakfast items each evening. There was always fresh fruit and eggs, along with bacon, bread, juice, coffee packets, cereal and other assorted items. The cabinets contain plates and bowls, glasses, flatware, cooking pans, etc. Unfortunately the stove in the kitchen is not working, so you need to use another smaller open-air kitchen in the other building if you want to cook bacon and eggs for breakfast. Everyone pitches in for cleanup duty in the kitchen. Dish soap, towels, etc. are provided. Light housekeeping is performed by the manager. Our room came with 4 bath towels and we re-used them so did not have them washed during our stay. Alan is amazingly helpful and friendly. The laundry that Alan uses to wash the linens is available for guest use, just let him know and coordinate an appropriate time. There is free WiFi onsite, but the reception was poor in our room. Make sure to ask for the password. There are covered tables and chairs setup outside in the yard for relaxing or eating breakfast. We also went to sit there to use the WiFi. Just a block to the end of the road is the public beach entrance and you get great views of Hilo Bay from there! The location is close to the airport, downtown Hilo, parks and shopping. The price and amenities of this property are great, and we would definitely stay there again.
