This hotel has sweeping views of Hilo Bay and beyond (if you get the oceanfront room) if it is not raining. The room was spacious, clean and well appointed. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Free parking and wifi. The restaurant (Queen's Landing?) served an amazing

The hotel was in a good location and easy to drive to and from. A little dated but clean and had all the facilities you need. The beds were comfortable. Had a nice meal in the restaurant. We would stay there again as it was cost effective.

An old stain on the sheet is not cool. Even if you are in paradise.
This tub is way too small. Showers only.
Typical in room look.
Nice bathroom/sink area with a door that can be closed between the sink and shower/toilet area. Lots of support for disabled guests.
"Welcome to the Castle Hilo Hawaiian Mr. Bond, I hope you like your room.." the orange and yellow reminded me of the late 1960's early 70's. Small card on bed on the orange pillow explains "Pele's curse."

No, the beach is green lawn that spreads down to lava rock shoreline on the bay. However, there is a state park just a 5 minute walk away with beach area and swimming around it.

We had a nice suite, two rooms and a kitchenette, it was very nice if your extra couple is ok with a sofa bed.
