Staying at the Hilo Honu Inn was truly a delightful experience. Hosts Gay and Bill were more than willing to go above and beyond to accomodate our needs. The breakfasts they serve are SUPERB - delightful smoothies, fresh fruit, and home baked goods (their banana souffle and french toast were SO delicious!). I would highly recommend this B&B to anyone... More

We stayed at the Bali Hai suite for one night. Very friendly hosts (even including a hula demonstration for breakfast). The room was great - probably the pick of the bunch, and very good value. Location is very handy to town and lots of restaurents. Breakfast was healthy and delicious, my wife even asked for the pancake recipe. No negatives,... More

I heard about this B&B from a personal friend who stayed there. We stayed in the Tatami Room. It was wonderful. The view was incredible..I can't imagine there being a better view in Hilo because it's literally the very top house on Haili Street Hill! Bill and Gay, the innkeepers, were charming and hospitable. I particulary enjoyed the homemade banana... More

I had to find rooms for fourteen board members and staff for an annual meeting that was taking place on the Big Island. I live on the East coast. I have never traveled to Hawaii and not sure how to facilitate finding rooms with private baths and close to our meeting place. It was a daunting task to say the... More

"WOW! WOW! WOW!" What a wonderful place to stay. The Inn is located very close (about seven blocks) to downtown Hilo & the waterfront. All the rooms are decorated beautifully but the Samurai Suite is really my choice as it has a wonderful ocean view. Fresh flowers in every room was a tasteful Hawaiian touch. Gay & Billy have restored... More

My daughter and I booked three nights in the Hilo Honu over the weekend. We both found the hosts Gay and Bill to be quite intrusive on our privacy. On the second night, we were awakened by a loud fire alarm that had malfunctioned. This happens and I could easily have forgiven the problem. However, Gay knocked on the door;... More

While I regret the fire alarm incident, we were responding to a possible emergency. The guest makes it sound like we just showed up at their door with a ladder. Actually, we first determined there was no apparent fire and then had to find out which detector had gone off. The guest told us their unit was flashing so since... More
