This place is everything it claims to be and more. The views are breathtaking and the owner is fun. It's off the beaten path but its also walking distance to the beautiful waipio valley! Escape the chaps and head out to hale kukui for some relaxation and fresh fruit!

Even with the frogs and birds I slept really well here. Bed was comfortable. Cottage was clean. It is a cottage though - nothing fancy. I would get bored here if I stayed too long, but after spending over a week in South Kohola it was a nice change. A new restaurant opened up within walking distance. The food was...

We stayed in the studio cottage for a week. It was even better than the pictures - the views from the lanai were incredible. The cottage had everything we needed for a very peaceful stay on an amazing part of the island. The Waipio Valley overlook is only a short walk away. Paula and her two furry assistants were gracious...

Ability to pick ripe fruit from the orchard and have breakfast overlooking spectacular view was fantastic. Very relaxing to soak in tub after hiking down Waipio Valley road, playing at black sand beach and hiking back. Great for a family of 5! Thanks

My husband and two kids (18 yo and 17 month) stayed here for one week. This place is a little patch of heaven! We stayed in the two bedroom. The rooms were sized right. The second room is accessed from the very large lanai that overlooks Waipio Valley. You cannot find better views than this! The kitchen is small but...

Hale Kukui is perhaps one of the most beautiful, magical and private vacation spots in the world! Best views ever! I saw ocean, cliffs, waterfalls, breaching whales and a cornucopia of fruits, flowers and tropical plants all over the property! It is like your very own garden of Eden! The property consists of several acres and I stayed in one...

My husband mountain bikes, and I like to just relax and read, so this location was perfect for us. He rode down into and up out of Waipio Valley, and on some other nearby dirt roads, while I sat and watched the sun change on the waterfalls, with an occasional whale breaching off shore. The best part of the view...

Words can't describe the beauty and serenity of this place. We stayed in their studio, and the experience is simply unreal. The balcony overlooks the beautiful waipio valley, and the vast expansive ocean. It's quiet, isolated, and you truly feel like living in paradise. The hike down to the beach is challenging, but worth it. Must do. The drive to...

This is a beautiful property with wonderful views. I checked out all the cabins ( as they were empty) and all of them had excellent views. The caretakers were very helpful. It was obvious that some trees were sacrificed in order to get better views. When we went the orchard had little fruit ( our bad luck) . It was...

We stayed here two nights. Considered getting married in Waipio but got married in Kona instead. Hale Kukui has beautiful views and waking up to the sound of the birds and sunrise every morning was an amazing experience. The room is simple but has everything you need to cook and enjoy the surroundings. Would love to come back here and...

“The view from the studio cottage was amazing, but the larger cottage next door was even better, with a view of an additional waterfall, so if you have enough people to justify the additional expense, ask for the cottage closest to the main house.”

“Take some mosquito repellant, they can be very hungry in the evenings outside. Maybe have a torch handy if you are staying in the cottage as there's no path to it and it can be easier negotiating the lawn with some branches on it at night.”
