My wife and I needed a clean comfortable place to stay in Waimea and Waimea Country Lodge delivered beyond our expectations. Pay no attention to older reviews. This is a place completely transformed. The owners delivered an impeccably clean environment. The remodeled rooms show as brand new in every respect from floors to plumbing fixtures to beautiful countertops and a spacious feel. Wonderful high ceilings, kitchenette including silver and plate wear, beautiful HOT shower, comfortable beds, microwave, fridge, coffee maker, flat screen, etc. all made our stay as pleasant as it could be. Has the outside feel of an old style country motel, but the rooms are fully designed to accommodate modern expectations. Staff was incredibly friendly. Had a non-refundable reservation and called last minute to switch our arrival date and they could not have been more polite or accommodating. Nicely located in the heart of Waimea, this lodge is a hidden gem for people touring the island and needing a clean beautifully-appointed room at a very reasonable price. We are seasoned travelers with multiple stays on the Big Island. Thanks for becoming our go-to lodging choice for future stays in Waimea.

Front desk service was great, went downhill from there. Guy upstairs sounded like he was bowling all night, TP holder fell off wall, wifi died, filthy windows, 5am fire alarm, got congested from smelling cleaning supplies, fridge freezer frozen over & door lock stuck like it'd been super-glued. Rooster & coqui outside are part of Hawai'i's charm, so no issues there. Two stars for cleanliness & hot water. We love vintage motor hotels & came prepared to love it! Owned by Castle Resorts now. Sad...

Service was the worst ever. Upon arrival, both Wi-Fi access and cable TV were not working. Office closes at 4 PM. When I called the number provided for after hours service, the answerer rudely stated that the office was closed and that she could do nothing. Upon check out when returning the keys to the office, clerk harshly yelled to leave the keys on the table. Management does a poor job of training staff with customer service and just being generally polite. I will avoid staying here again and do not recommend this place to anyone.

Located at the main intersection of Waimea town, two strip malls are in short walking distance, including a supermarket (KTA) and food court (Parker Center). From the outside it looks like a typical roadside motel, but once you enter the room, it appears recently renovated with new wood-tone vinyl plank flooring, microwave, mini-fridge, toaster oven, coffee maker, small sink (the suites with kitchenette has an oven), functional clean bathroom, flat screen TV and wifi with respectable speeds. The rooms are spacious with high open beam ceilings. Most rooms have a shared interconnecting door, which is great if you have your group in the next room, but it does let sound pass easier between the rooms. All rooms have a sliding glass window out to an open field with mountain views. With the year-round cool temperatures, the open window provides sufficient fresh air, and some rooms have a ceiling fan. The open parking lot has plenty free parking. There are 3 gazebos with grills, perfect if you want to grill your own big island steak (available from KTA Supermarket). The staff were responsive and caring to your needs. I would stay here again to fully enjoy Waimea town.

Some people walking in the parking lot, walking in and out of a room, seemed like drug distribution. Felt very unsafe. I was here with my family. I was going to reach late in night so confirmed with them about late night checkin, number doesn’t work.

Staff was nice. Negatives - beds were rock hard, mold on the shower curtain, chickens will keep you awake, no air & could only get one fan per room, TV didn’t work, WiFi didn’t work, no ice in the ice machine.

Office open 8 to so that is when there is coffee, staff in office are snotty and rooms stink of cheap pine cleaner. TV not set to cable remote so you have to hunt for on button. No irons no coffee makers no blowdryers. This place is a dump. No really hot water. They had a no vacancy sign out but only 3 rooms were occupied?????

Sadly there are not many options in Waimea for a one night stay and I got desperate and booked a night here. The Lodge was VERY old and dingy. Smell of mold, mildew and disinfectant hit me like a fist when I opened the door to my room. I opened the door and all the windows to try to air the place out during the day but could not keep the circulation going at night because on the first floor, this is a security issue. My friends actually insisted on walking me into my room later that night because it seemed so scary. To add insult to injury, when I arrived at noon, I was told I could not check in until 3pm without an additional charge even though my room was clean, ready and unoccupied. Talk about a bad business decision. It costs them nothing to let me put my bags in the room that is ready for me. I was forced to kill 3 hours and return later. When I booked the room, there was an online rate of $125/night. But when I called the hotel directly, I was told the rate was $211. When I pointed out the discrepancy, they at first balked but later acquiesced and honored the web price. Once I got to the hotel and saw the conditions - stained carpets, mildew stained linoleum in bathroom, sagging, thin mattress, old polyester blend sheets, bad smells, etc.I felt like I had been ripped off even at $125. It was really a $70 dive hotel room. Apparently Castle Resorts is taking over. Let's hope they plow a lot of money into a remodel, policy reviews, and staff training. Would not recommend anyone stay at this place until that happens.

What a simple and quaint little hotel in the town of Waimea (Kamuela). The temperature is great and the air is clean in this small town. The lodge offers a simple, basic but charming place to spend the night. If you have the chance you should spend a night or two here while exploring Hawaii Island.

This is a very basic hotel. Our superior room was quite large with two comfortable double beds, a plain table, TV, and several chairs. The bath was small but clean. We put up the "do not disturb sign" until we left in the morning, then took it down. When we came back at 9PM the room was not made up and we had no useable towels there had been no place to hang them up where they would dry. The staff did bring us one towel when we requested a new set. However they made a point of letting us know that it was our fault because their policy is not to disturb anyone, and if anyone hangs up a do not disturb sign they do not enter the room even after the sign has been taken down...
