The Hale Ho'onanea has been perfectly named. From the lanai of the Bamboo suite we have enjoyed the peace and relaxation found in watching the world come awake by day, or, by night, see it go quiet beneath a blanket of endless stars. This is a haven to slow the pace of a vacation yet it is close to great...

Although I could see that the Bamboo Suite was at one time a nice place, and some effort was made for the sake of appearances, it was simply a veneer of cleanliness over this dilapidated and unkempt suite. The first thing we noticed when we walked in were the beautiful floors and furnishings; then we were hit with some kind...

This B&B was the 2nd place we stayed on our Hawaiian vacation and it was markedly different from the first. Melanie was very friendly and the Bamboo Suite was very well appointed. The kitchen made it easy for us to prepare meals in and save money from eating out. Melanie also offered the use of a large selection of beach...

Located in the midst of all the best things to see on the Big Island and off the beaten tourist path, this B and B provides the space and privacy of a small condo with a friendly host who strikes just the right balance of helpfulness and respecting your privacy - plus she provides a delicious - and more than...

We stayed in the Tranquility suite, which is only tranquil if the room above (Bamboo room from memory) is empty. During our 3 night stay it was not and the early morning noise was at times invasive. Our room was well set out, fully equipped and the bed extremely comfortable. Breakfasts were generally too calorific for our requirements. The "lanai" was...

Melanie and Bruce are gracious hosts who can share the sunset on your lanei, or leave you in peace as you enjoy the tranquility and beauty of their wonderful place. They follow your lead as to what you need, whether it be attentiveness or being left alone. Their continental breakfasts (don't pass up the fresh sweet-breads each day) are on...

We picked this B&B for the convenience of leaving out of Kona airport and that's the only good thing about this B&B. We were not made to feel welcome at all when we arrived. We were not offered any refreshments or friendly conversation and were shown a sign that stated that " we were to clean up after our selves...

This place is located in the Kohala Estates on a slope overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The Trade Winds at night made it quite cool. Slept like a baby. Pefect for privacy. I visited Hapuna Beach and Waimea.

This little Bread and Breakfast sits up in the South Kohala slope, about 35 miles from the tourist kitsch of Kailua. The lanai (porch) provides a spectacular view of the ocean, place for cocktails and grilling, and marvelous sunsets. Native birds abound in surrounding vegetation, and pet sheep clear the flammable grasses. World class beaches (Hapuna and Mauna Kea etc.)...

“I would not choose the Tranquillity suite because of the poor noise insulation. You will hear your upstairs neighbours. Also, bugs are probably closer to the ground floor property...No breeze at night.”
