Irene was so attentive and accomodating that she provided sufficient and necessary information for us. Room was clean, cozy, and comfortable. The isolated place will make you feel relaxed and different from daily life.

aloha and mahalo nui for your comment...I am glad you felt comfortable and relaxed...it is also a kind of "hub" to all interesting places of this side of the island and no town/city noises...hope to see you again...best regards, irene

My daughter and I loved the serenity of the place. But! If you are in night life - this is not your place. The nearest town is about 3 miles away (to taxi), and has just a handful places to eat or have a drink. The breakfast is THE BEST EVER! The owner had all healthy and most delicious choices:...

I had such a fantastic stay at the Lava Tree recently. I loved how comfortable the host, Irene, made it feel. I would stay there again. I enjoyed the people and the grounds around the Inn. Mahalo Irene!

This was a state-of-the-art 5 bedroom home built in the early 1980's. It is not a modern house, nor is it a hotel. There is a 350 meter long single car track leading to the property, then a massive gate to slide open (and close), and a long curved driveway leading to the house. Irene prepares freshly squeezed starfruit juice...

We stayed here because it's close to the lava flow and were pleasantly surprised. It's in a beautiful setting in the forest with incredible nighttime wildlife sounds. The owner is very friendly and cooks a great fresh breakfast with eggs from her own chickens and fruit from her own trees.

I have stayed in Lava Tree Tropic Inn with my husband and a friend for a week in Aug 2016 and it was awesome! The inn is located in a forest area in the Pahoa aera, just by the Lava Tree State Park. It's a not a fancy chain hotel, but, in my opinion, much better than that. We felt...

First of all this was my first time staying in someone else home. I had the most wonderful experience staying with Irene! When we arrived (During Tropical Storm Darby) Irene greeted us and showed us to our room and gave a quick tour of her home. My friend and I were the only guest (because of the storm) she asked...

Been here twice in the past 8 months and what a great place. Hidden behind Lava Tree State Park which allows for a quiet paradise. Great tropical foil age, fruit trees galore and an all natural breakfast prepared by Irene, the owner which is a surprise each morning as you sit on the veranda and watch the free range chickens...

The owner and operator, Irene, was fantastic! Excellent food and hospitality. Good location right by Lava Tree Park. Irene was very accommodating for our late arrival. If you do not mind a rooster not knowing what time it is, removing your shoes to protect the beautiful wood floors and a very uneven driveway-this place is for you! We had a...

This is a difficult review to write, simply because there were a broadly equal number of good points to development areas. Let me begin by saying that the photos on the website bear little resemblance to the inn. To say that they have been "beautified" would be an understatement. Yet that said, the inn had a huge amount of character...
