This is a long overdue review. We stayed here last June and had a great visit. The property is beautiful and very well kept. We stayed in the Garden Suite, which had a lot of space and a full kitchen. The breakfasts were delicious. Pahoa was a nice area to explore for a few days. Our favorite place to visit...

We absolutely recommend staying at Hale Moana, we were in a large apartment upstairs that has a master bedroom, one smaller bedroom, kitchen and family room/dinning area. When you first get in to the place you get the sense of being at home, is so clean and welcoming. For breakfast I wasn't expecting much but I was pleasantly surprised to...

We stayed with Petra for two nights in the Makamae Studio. It was very Hawaiian style and clean. Our room faced the beautiful grounds. The breakfast at the Hale was amazing. French toast and German pancakes were delicious with an assortment of fruit and vegetables, teas and coffee. The neighborhood, Leilani Estates, was very quiet. If you've never been to...

We stayed in the small studio next to the lanai, and while we could hear the frogs at night, we didn't notice any lack of privacy while we were there. Of course, it's Hawaii--we weren't there to spend the day inside! Petra puts out a great breakfast with pancakes or eggs, and lots of fresh fruit. She provided a guidebook...

We rented the Makamae Studio room which was right beside the lanai where breakfast was served. You need to keep all the windows open for air flow, which leaves very little sound privacy in this room. This room is also very small and tight for 2 people so it should be rented at a much cheaper rate than the other...

Even though we were only one night at Hale Moana, we wished we could have stayed longer! Peter is an amazing hostess. The setting of Hale Moana is so lovely and peaceful and Petra is very knowledgeable about the island, distances, places to go, and how to get there. We loved it!

Our host Petra was the best!! Every morning she helped guide us to our next "thing to see and do". The breakfast's are very good, something for everyone. We stayed in the suite upstairs and loved it. Some reviewers talked about the frogs at night - yep they sing for some time but we loved them. In the morning you...

Petra is a wonderful host, and made us feel completely at home - giving us tips on where to eat, hike, and visit. The place is cozy and cute, and very well kept/clean, so we had an extremely comfortable stay. Breakfast is great with lots of fresh fruit, and there is a washer/dryer for use by guests. Location is ~1...
