We loved the rainforest setting, the tranquility and seclusion and all of the art . We enjoyed taking outdoor showers and the Japanese bath. It was all calming and glorious. We stayed in the Skylight House which was stunning. Peter and Kathleen were gracious hosts and sent us any information we needed ahead of our stay. The location within miles of VNP allowed us to easily visit what you could see of erupting volcano at night. I would highly recommend this awesome retreat and we hope to visit again.

Just a couple miles outside the park, and a world unto itself. We stayed in the Guest House, and the garden views were a real joy and the unit fully comfortable. A great choice, and easy access to restaurants in Volcano Village outside the park.

We spent a wonderfully secluded time at a beautiful dreamlike spot in the rainforest . The design of the property is magnificent and every detail is well thought through to bring peace and relaxation. Peter is a wonderful host who cares about his guests as much as his property.

Our 3-night stay in the Bamboo Guest House at Volcano Rainforest Retreat exceeded our expectations (and our expectations were high!). Kathleen & Peter were wonderful hosts who greeted us warmly. Kathleen provided invaluable suggestions for nearby sights, hikes and dining. (Note: we did everything she suggested and are very grateful!) VRR is nestled in the rainforest, but easy to find and conveniently located to the park and Volcano Village. Bamboo Guest House is a dream: visually stunning inside and out, it conveys a sense of serenity and calm. You can feel the years of love and care that Kathleen & Peter have put into the property: tasteful color palette, authentic Hawaiian art, lush floral arrangements and attention to detail confirm you are staying somewhere very special. The bedding was extremely comfortable, towels were plush and luxurious robes were provided for the indulgent Japanese furo. The kitchen was well appointed and continental breakfast items provided each day. There is ample parking in an adjacent carport. A stay at Volcano Rainforest Retreat is an experience that will recharge your spirits and delight your senses!

The Skylight House is probably the most beautiful B&B cottage we have ever stayed at. The architectural design is impeccable; lots of windows to enjoy nature (though still very private) -- we didn't even feel bad that we spent so much time inside. Kathleen and Peter were the most gracious hosts and made sure we had everything we needed. I always looked forward to the breakfast spread -- we made Peter's papaya/banana treat every morning at our next place too, it was so tasty.
