Hale ‘Ohu Bed & Breakfast is a boutique, adults-only property set on five-acres with botanical gardens and a tropical rainforest. We are located in the quaint hamlet of Volcano Village nestled next to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Our three rooms are modern with all the conveniences and comforts travelers expect. Each room has a private entrance, spa-inspired en-suite bathroom, Breakfast Nook with mini-fridge, coffee maker and microwave; patio with garden views and a SMART-TV with Netflix access. Rate includes a generous and healthy continental breakfast, daily housekeeping, high-speed Wi-Fi and parking. Hale 'Ohu (ha-lay oh-who) means the House in the Mist. We are situated at a 4,000-foot elevation and enjoy cooler weather even on days with clear blue skies. In the afternoon, mist often rolls in from the slopes of Mauna Loa. We are a legally permitted B&B by the County of Hawai'i.
Hale ‘Ohu Bed & Breakfast is a beautiful b&b in volcano, in a gorgeous garden with rainforest all around. We were in the Bamboo room, which is very tastefully decorated. Breakfast is prepared and waiting in the fridge when you return from excursions. Coffee maker and microwave are available, nothing is missing. The coqui frogs make the night music, otherwise you hear at most the rain. Gabrielle and Nicole are very warm hosts and we really enjoyed spending the two days there.

We stayed in the Bamboo Room! It’s simple yet luxurious. The breakfast was delicious and easy to serve. The nook had everything you would need plus wine glasses and bottle opener. (The office has wine for purchase!) When you step outside , the beautiful gardens surround you. Chairs are available so you can sit and enjoy. Blankets are thoughtfully provided, in case of cold. The Guest Services binder has information on anything you could think of asking from B&B , safety & surrounding area questions. The owners were very friendly but not intrusive. We will be returning for a longer stay!

It's a small bandb in the middle of a gorgeous rainforest. Inn keeper was very nice.Room was clean and fully accessible which I need. The grounds have trails throughout so one can immerse oneself in the lush tropical landscape. Just remember that this is in Volcano very close to volcanoes np. There are a few dining choices and no retail nearby. If you want to be close to Kilauea this is the place.

My husband and I are traveling from Florida and go to all the National Parks. After reading all the reviews of where to stay we found Hale Ohu B & B. We came in late, so we didn’t see the true beauty of the property until morning. Absolutely breathtaking, amazing covered patio to eat the delicious breakfasts they provide daily. 5 minute drive to Volcano National Park, perfect location. The owners are extremely nice and you can tell the pride they take in the room and property. We stayed in Red Ginger room and it was extremely clean and very updated. The property is tranquil and I HIGHLY recommend!!!! There is even a short nature trail on the property to enjoy. We only stayed 2 nights but I could easily have stayed longer.

A delightful stay! Room was a bit small but the owners have thought of everything. Spotlessly clean. Beautiful gardens. Comfortable bed.Close to everything in Volcano including the National Park. Yummy breakfast, too, in the room. Thank you.

I felt totally refreshed after staying here for 2 nights. The room was sparkling clean, simply furnished and comfortable. The garden just outside the patio was well tended and beautiful. Bonus - the heated mattress pad on the bed since the weather was cold in February. Easy drive to Volcano National Park, lunch at Cafe Ono was recommended and delicious. On Thursday evening there was a local market at the community center with some amazing food options. I'd stay here again to visit the park or just as a personal retreat. Next time I go to Hilo, I'll stay here and drive the 45 minutes rather than stay at a hotel in the city.

Fantastic attention to detail by Nicole and team, from the daily breakout of what restaurants in the are open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, to the excellent breakfast nook and daily goodies. Red Ginger Room had everything we needed and the grounds around the property were like a cute rainforest wonderland. Located just 2mi from the park, and while you could stay with the tourist masses at the Volcano Lodge, Hale provides a sanctuary to recharge between your volcanic adventures. Overall, it was a great experience and we would stay with them again next time we’re in Volcanoes!

Awesome B&B. Unit was very well done, plush & comfortable. Everything you needed was right there. Most important, it was very clean. Owners most welcome & helpful. Our breakfast was already prepared, nicely set up & in the refrigerator when we were ready to eat. There was a nice lanai that we enjoyed our breakfast, overlooking magnificent gardens.
