We have stayed here on each of our annual trips to the Big Island the past few years. We keep coming back because we love the quiet country retreat next to the fern forest. It feels very remote, but is only minutes from Volcano Village and the National Park. We have stayed in the house, we have stayed in the...

Thank you oldirish33 for your kind words! We love welcoming you back each year! We now also have a 3 bedroom 2 bath house in Hilo near the municipal golf course. It also has a separate studio and deck with 360 degree mountain & ocean views in case you want to stay in Hilo someday.

If you need a place for a school retreat or a large family gathering, the Halana Hale is a great place with many bedrooms, a large dining room, and living room. It is nestled in Volcano village in the farm lot area so it is nice and quiet.

Thank you Mr184 for your kind review! We hope you will return again to enjoy our property. Just to let you know, we have a cottage that sleeps 4 at the bottom of our property that is wheelchair accessible. We also have acquired my parent's home that is next door and connected to the cottage by a path. This home...

We got exactly what we needed: a room, a shower, a parking lot, breakfast and silence. This b'n'b is located almost at the end of a small street in the rainforest/wilderness very close to the park. The best thing about staying here is Mahi. She loves her job and cares about her guests very well. You get valuable tips from...

Got into Volcano pretty late in the evening... the evening also happened to have VOG (volcanic fog) which made it difficult to see. This place is pretty far from the main road (5 - 10 minute drive), but you really feel like you're in the middle of no where once you get there. The elevation is high so it can...

Staying in Volcano is an expensive convenience, with few options and 99% of them are B&B’s. It’s important to have that in mind when reading (and writing) reviews of places here. First of all, I don’t like B&B’s. I’m not anti-social but I simply find these places too personal (sometimes, even invasive) but I wanted to stay a couple days...

This is a large house which has been converted for use as a bed-and-breakfast. The host is a warm and very knowledgable lady who can help visitors with their stay in the area. The beds are comfortable and the amenities are in fine. We had towels and soaps ready for our use. A room heater is provided as the nights...

Recently spent 2 nights at the Halana Lodge and I would recommend for a stay in the Volcano Village area. It is definitely worth staying in Volcano Village as it allows you to go back into the National Park to see the volcano after dark and also allows you to get an early start in the morning for any walks...

We phoned before we left the Kona area and all went well. Having a GPS with us helped helped us on the final leg from Volcano. The weather was fine enough to enjoy breakfast of fresh muffins and papaya on the deck where, on the second morning we joined by another couple. We stayed 2 nights. The general store in...

Short drive to Hilo, and OH SO MANY things to see along the way. Do not miss the farmers market!!!!!! Amazing drive to turtle beach! Everything...i mean everything,...

When we arrived around 9pm there was a note on the front door saying our room is ready with a phone number to call. I called twice and left a message both times. Luckily, the other guests just arrived and let us in. No one called me back that night. The next morning the housekeeper greeted us and promptly asked...
